From DecoyMusic : The members of Blueneck describe themselves as "reclusive," much preferring the comfort of the studio to the cold, prying eyes of the live stage. However, reports of the band's live show are never anything short of spectacular, and with a stellar debut album out in 2006, one wonders why this band isn't receiving more press. Scars of the Midwest is a terribly haunting album, and I emphasize the terribly. Blueneck leads most of its songs by way of the piano, where gloomy keys set a chilling precedent for the band's despondent sound. Heavy, swirling atmospherics fill the rest of the band's sound, supplemented with vocals on occasion to add a lingering humanistic quality to the music which is engulfed in the dreary landscape as soon as its creation. On many levels, I find it extremely difficult to describe Scars of the Midwest. This intelligent, thought-provoking album terrifies the listener into submission, repeatedly attacking with a cascade of emotion and overwhelming sonic tension. This is music that speaks; this is music that truly has a voice and desires to take on a life of its own. The album is stuffed with delights, something that has quickly made this one of my favorites of the year. Be it the subtle force of "Judas! Judas!", the eerie feel of "Oig", or the cathartic release of "Epiphany," Scars of the Midwest stops at nothing to deliver an album so ethereal that its transcendence is undeniable from the start. While other instrumental acts make a stake at pursuing the organic side of their craft, Blueneck takes it to an entirely different plane--one that you might have never known existed.
Blueneck does a very good job at hiding its influences behind its cutting originality and incredible depth. However, the quartet has listened to its fair share of Mogwai and adopted the forceful linear instrumental aspect of its sound, in addition to borrowing Sigur Ros otherworldly feel. Blueneck is a bit of a hit or miss band, some might be confused by the band's style and miss the subtler aspects of its music, but those who do find the band to be compelling will most likely fall head over heels for this band.

Ο Δράκουλας είναι σαφώς κατώτερη ταινία από τα άλλα έπη του Ζερβού(Πατρίς Ληστεία Οικογένεια, Σαπουνόπετρα κλπ).
Επίσης μην την κατεβάσετε ρε 700τόσα ΜΒ που θα είναι. Νομίζω σήμερα τη δίνει το Έθνος.

Έκανα μια γύρα στο net και δεν βρήκα το Katagory V, δυστυχώς.
Εν τω μεταξύ έπεσες και στην περίπτωση να το έχουμε από δω μέσα μόνο τρία άτομα (απ' ό,τι φαίνεται) εκ των οποίων οι δύο είμαστε παντελώς άσχετοι με τα ανεβάσματα και ο τρίτος δεν έχει σύνδεση αυτήν την εποχή.
Πάντως αν μένεις Αθήνα, ψάξε λίγο τα εξειδικευμένα καταστήματα (Eat Metal, No Remorse, Metal Era κ.λπ.) και πιθανότατα θα το βρεις εκεί. Αν κάνεις αγορές από Internet είναι ακόμα πιο εύκολο.

Με την τραγική σύνδεση που έχω, ακόμα κι ένα αρχείο 5 MB μπορεί να μου φάει και μισή ώρα για να ανέβει. Συν το ότι δεν μπαίνω συχνά στο net από το σπίτι, οπότε... Θα κοιτάξω από Τετάρτη να κάνω κάτι.

Δεν καταλαβαίνουμε και πολλά από τι λέει εκεί, αλλά οκ, το κλικ στο λινκ ξέρουμε να το κάνουμε.
Δεν μπορώ να βοηθήσω πολύ για το παραπάνω, αφού οι γνώσεις μου από ρώσικο metal περιορίζονται σε Aria, Arida Vortex και Catharsis (άντε και λίγο Master - οι Scald δεν πιάνονται, είναι ξεχωριστή περίπτωση).
Οι Mavrik πάντως που βλέπετε κάτω-κάτω, είναι το προσωπικό γκρουπ του παλιού κιθαρίστα των Aria, Sergey Mavrin (ήταν μέλος τους την εποχή που έβγαλαν τα καλύτερα άλμπουμ τους) και είναι καλοί.
Επίσης οι Metsatoll είναι αρκετά ενδιαφέρουσα περίπτωση. Eίναι Εσθονoί, παίζουν folk metal και φυσικά τραγουδούν στη γλώσσα τους που μοιάζει αρκετά με τα φινλανδικά.
Btw, διασκευή σε Manowar έχουν κάνει και οι Aria, στη συλλογή Shtil, όπου έχουν μεταφράσει κιόλας το The Return of the Warlord στα ρώσικα. Πρέπει να 'χει φάση το όλο εγχείρημα, αλλά το συγκεκριμένο δισκάκι δεν το 'χω βρει ακόμα αυθεντικό.
edit: και το λινκ που είχα βρει δεν ισχύει πλέον.

Μιας και σε βλέπω ότι ψάχνεσαι για διασκευές Manowar, πάρε και μία αρκετά καλή προσπάθεια μιας νέας ουγγρικής μπάντας που λέγεται Halor, στο Return of the Warlord.

Είναι πιο εύκολο όμως να διασκευάσεις το Return of the Warlord από το Secret of Steel ας πούμε. Γι' αυτό προφανώς κάνουν τέτοιες επιλογές οι μπάντες, ειδικά αν είναι μικρές και άγνωστες, δεν θέλουν να εκτεθούν.

φέτος έβγαλαν το ντεμπούτο τους (Mother). Άγγλοι, "top of the pops" material :/
πήρε καλές κριτικές όμως και πούλησε και αρκετά

Ακούγοντας αυτές τις ημέρες πολύ το περσινό τριπλό τους live album Real Live Thing και ξεθάβοντας την μικρή τους δισκογραφία, συμπεραίνω πλέον ότι οι Φινλανδοί Kingston Wall είναι συγκρότημα αναφοράς στον σύγχρονο ψυχεδελικό / progressive ήχο (μετά την αναβίωση του στα τέλη της δεκαετίας '80 δηλαδή).
Το συγκεκριμένο album (δεύτερο από τα τρία που κυκλοφόρησαν συνολικά) είναι και η κορυφαία τους στιγμή.
Ο ήχος του βέβαια είναι πολύ κοντά στους ''μεγάλους'' των δεκαετιών '60-'70, δηλαδή έντονα κιθαριστικός ήχος με μεγάλα solos που εμένα προσωπικά μου θυμίζει από Santana και Hendrix μέχρι Latimer και Gilmour αλλά με μοντέρνα χροιά.
Υπάρχουν επίσης επιρροές από kraut, ανατολή (δείτε το εξώφυλλο π.χ.) αλλά και από την Φινλανδική μουσική.

Θεοί οι Kingston Wall. Αλλά σίγουρα το II είναι το χειρότερο της δισκογραφίας τους. Από τα 3 albums τους (που btw ονομάζονται I, II και III) κορυφαίο είναι το τελευταίο. Απίστευτος τραγουδιστής και guitar player (currently αυτοκτονημένος) κι εξίσου θεός drummer. Checkάρετε το II που ποσταρίστηκε αλλά ψάξτε οπωσδήποτε το III όσοι γουστάρετε prog rock/metal.

τι όχι, ψυχοπρόγκ από μεταλλάδες για μεταλλάδες είναι. μέτριοι οι τύποι, αλλά τη φινλανδική νεοψυχεδελική σκηνή στης οποίας τη γένεση έχουν συμβάλλει και πολύ σπουδαία τη βρίσκω.

Το demo των Sarissa π.χ. Ή κάτι παρόμοιο, ξέρεις εσύ. Κατά προτίμηση από παντελώς άγνωστη μπάντα, αλλά που να αξίζει ε.
A, και η διασκευή των Eshelon στο Hector Storms the Wall είναι όντως άψογη στο istrumental μέρος (με λίγο πιο βρώμικο ήχο ή ιδέα μου είναι), αλλά τα ρώσικα... Δεν κολλάνε γαμώτο σε ένα τόσο επικό κομμάτι. Από την άλλη βέβαια, να δοκίμαζε ο τραγουδιστής να συγκριθεί με Adams... απλά δεν γίνεται. Τέλος πάντων, respect όπως λέει και ο nacro μόνο που το τόλμησαν.

Δεν είπα ότι δεν μ' άρεσε, αλλά ότι είναι δύσκολο να συνηθίσω τα ρώσικα σε ένα τέτοιο κομμάτι. Ισως γιατί το έχω ακούσει άπειρες φορές στην original μορφή του, δεν ξέρω.
Εννοείται πως για να έχει νόημα μια διασκευή πρέπει να διαφοροποιείται από το αυθεντικό κι αυτοί εδώ έκαναν καλή δουλειά.

Το είχα δει στη Θεσσαλονίκη, στο φεστιβάλ ντοκιμαντέρ. Κορυφή ο καραγκιόζης από τους Gorgoroth -sorry Καραγκιόζη! Βλέπουμε και το σπίτι του Dio! Γενικά πολύ ευχάριστα γραφικό, ο τυπάς που το γύρισε θυμίζει πιτσιρικά που μόλις αγόρασε το πρώτο του βινύλιο Guns'n'Roses και βλέπει τον ατέλειωτο δρόμο της σκληρής μουσικής να ανοίγεται μπροστά του!

Επειδή μάλλον δεν το είδε στην ώρα του και μεσόλάβησαν δύο σελίδες...
Request προς Steel Assassin: Αν και όποτε μπορείς ανέβασε κάνα δισκάκι από αυτά που πραγματικά δεν υπάρχει περίπτωση να βρεθούν ούτε στην τιμή των 500 ευρώ.
Το demo των Sarissa π.χ. Ή κάτι παρόμοιο, ξέρεις εσύ. Κατά προτίμηση από παντελώς άγνωστη μπάντα, αλλά που να αξίζει ε.
Βασικά το είδα. Θα ανεβάσω το Sarissa demo τώρα και ίσως και το ΕΡ των Witchkiller ως καλό καμμένο πράμα. Και θα ακολουθεί κι άλλο σε τακτά χρονικά διαστήματα.
Το πρωί ελπίζω να έχει γίνει η δουλειά.

Thanx a lot. Αντε ρε γμτ, με έχει φάει η περιέργεια με όσα διαβάζω ότι το demo των Sarissa είναι καλύτερο από το άλμπουμ κ.λπ.
Το Witchkiller μην το ανεβάσεις, έχει επανακυκλοφορήσει και έχει μπει στη wantlist για αγορά. Γενικά, δεν είναι τόσο δύσκολο να βρεθεί δηλαδή.

Για τα υπόλοιπα άλμπουμ τώρα, στο computer του σπιτιού έχω σωσμένο link για το ντεμπούτο τους, το Mania Velichia. Θα το βάλω κι αυτό το βράδυ, γιατί τώρα δεν το βρίσκω από δω που είμαι.
Τις επόμενες μέρες σκοπεύω να βάλω επιτέλους dsl, οπότε θα ανεβάζω σε τακτά χρονικά διαστήματα τα υπόλοιπα Aria, αλλά και τίποτα από Ossian που είμαι βέβαιος ότι πολλοί θα γουστάρουν.

Εγώ δεν πρόλαβα να το κατεβάσω. Ημουν στη δουλειά όταν έκανα το μεσημεριανό post (με τα thanx κ.λπ.) και μετά είδα το post του PoS οπότε δεν μπήκα στη διαδικασία (δεν είμαστε για δοκιμές με dial-up).
Το link που έδωσε ο chris πρέπει να λειτουργεί (από κει το κατεβάζω το demo αυτήν τη στιγμή) οπότε μην μπαίνεις στον κόπο να το ξανανεβάσεις. Πάμε και στα δικά μου καμένα για απόψε:

Έτσι άρχισαν όλα. Το Mania Velichia είναι ένα ιστορικό άλμπουμ, καθώς είναι το πρώτο που κυκλοφόρησε ποτέ heavy metal μπάντα της Σοβιετικής Ενωσης. Αυτός είναι και ο βασικός λόγος για τον οποίο αξίζει να το έχει κανείς, μιας και μουσικά δεν μπορεί να συγκριθεί με τις δουλειές που έβγαλαν οι Aria αργότερα. Αυτό πάντως δεν σημαίνει ότι ο εν λόγω δίσκος δεν είναι τουλάχιστον καλός. Κομμάτια όπως τα Torero, Bivni Tchornikh Skal και Eto Rock δείχνουν ότι το γκρουπ απαρτίζεται από μουσικούς με ταλέντο. Οι επιρροές από Iron Maiden δεν είναι ακόμα τόσο εμφανείς και ο ήχος φέρνει πιο πολύ σε μελωδικό 80s hard rock, παρά σε NWOBHM.

Tα λόγια είναι περιττά. Η κορυφαία ουγγρική μπάντα (και μια από τις κορυφαίες ευρωπαϊκές – προσωπική, αλλά αντικειμενική άποψη) σε έναν ακόμα σταθερά καλό δίσκο. Πωρωτικό και πιασάρικο μελωδικό heavy/power έχουμε και εδώ, αν και γνώμη μου είναι πως το συγκεκριμένο άλμπουμ δεν φτάνει τα υψηλά στάνταρ του προκατόχου του, Hangeromu (2003) και του A Szabadsag Fantomja που κυκλοφόρησε πέρυσι.
Ε καλά, γαμιέται τελείως το ftp μέσω του command line. Δηλαδή γενικά γαμιέται, το κάνει τελείως burst το upload.
Θα βάλω κανά σοβαρό client από εδώ και μπρος.
Α ναι, και ότι έιπες για Ossian ισχύει. :)

αυτό δεν ξέρω -ακόμα- τι λέει αλλά το album τους ( carved in stigmata wounds ) μ'αρεσε αρκετά...το split, αν δεν κάνω λάθος, είχε κάτι προβλήματα στην πλευρά των secrets και ποτέ δεν του έδωσα ιδιαίτερη προσοχή.
τεσπα, το θέμα είναι ότι η συζήτηση επικεντρώνεται σε λάθος album.
