Rockaholics records is proud to announce that we have worked out a deal with Dayton, Ohio / Texas greats ARCH RIVAL and that they will be one of our first releases in late October, among other great and exciting artists.
We're immensely proud to have in our ranks such an excellent band, led by the charismatic
Michael Harris on guitar, who doesn't need much of an introduction. This guy is one of the most well rounded players in the business and he keeps on releasing quality material time after time, no matter which band he plays with. His phenomenal but always tasteful playing, has been influenced by such luminaries as Ritchie Blackmore, Robin Trower, & Jimmy Page, and eventually Frank Marino, Steve Morse, Uli Jon Roth, and Michael Schenker. Apart from the three ARCH RIVAL albums, Michael has half a dozen of highly regarded solo releases under his belt and has collaborated with such great musicians as David Chastain of CHASTAIN fame and Vitalij Kuprij (ARTENSION) in their solo albums. The latest triumph, was 2007’s highly acclaimed THOUGHT CHAMBER project whose debut album featured Ted Leonard of ENCHANT fame on vocals and was not only one of the best sellers for Inside out, that year – but also praised by none other than DREAM THEATER’s Mike Portnoy !
Yet ARCH RIVAL is far from a one man show. The dynamic duo of Gary Ringmaiden on bass and Greg Martin on drums, is a match made in heaven and provides the band with a very solid and groovy rhythm section that really gives the songs that extra special “something”. Last but not least, there’s Steve Snyder, THE VOICE of ARCH RIVAL. He’s probably the best singer you‘ve never heard of, but once you have, he‘ll be hard to forget, trust us! If singers like Jon Oliva (SAVATAGE), Don Dokken (DOKKEN) and Paul Rodgers (FREE, BAD COMPANY, QUEEN+PR) are among your favorites, then the Snyderman, is guaranteed to satisfy ! His voice, overflows with emotion, passion and power! It’s totally beyond us, how this guy and band never really made it really big!
But don’t take our word alone for it, there's a reason why Keith Langerman, a respected music critic,
states, "ARCH RIVAL is simply one of the best metal bands ever produced in the U.S.A. past or present!"
With three CDs and a global fanbase, ARCH RIVAL has certainly proven to be a prolific melodic hard rock act. Based out of Dayton, Ohio, the core band consisting of Michael Harris (guitar); Gary Ringmaiden (bass), and Greg Martin (drums), played the mid-west club scene for several years before finding their niche in vocalist, Steve Snyder, and wasted no time recording their debut record at Midtown Studio in Nashville. Entitled "IN THE FACE OF DANGER", the CD proved ARCH RIVAL's ability to write compelling rock music with melody, and immediately garnered airplay and major label attention to the group and they signed their first overseas (Killerwatt) and Japanese deals (F.E.M.S). The band toured nationally in support of "I.T.F.O.D." and even landed a support slot for BAD COMPANY. After finishing up on new material for the follow up "WAKE UP YOUR MIND" the band ventured to the New York area for those recording sessions, and discovered new sounds and styles that they included on their critically acclaimed 2nd album. This highly impressive recording again landed them solid deals in Europe with LMP and Japan (F.E.M.S.). A subsequent tour followed, and after Michael and Steve each recorded solo albums, 1997 found AR returning once again with more great music in "THIRD DEGREE BURNS". That album landed the band even better deals in Japan (F.E.M.S) and Europe again with B.O/LMP. After that, the band went on a hiatus for a while, without ever really disbanding. Each member pursued some outside musical projects and while they all maintained some loose contact, the “short-break” they had planned, ended up being an eleven year absence from the “scene”.
2008 saw the first ARCH RIVAL concerts in many a year taking place and also the demoing of some new material.
2009 will see the re-release of the band’s back catalogue, in luxurious digipacks, which subsequently should lead to a new album being recorded for release some time in 2010, with possible touring/festival activity around the same time.
