Ο δίσκος που εγώ προσωπικά περίμενα περισσότερο από οποιονδήποτε άλλο φέτος... στο live στο Gagarin τα Χριστούγεννα ένα κρύωμα δε μου είχε επιτρέψει να τους δω (έφυγα μετά τους Lord13 μάλλον αυτοί έφταιγαν για την επιδείνωση) και την επόμενη όλοι με πρήζανε για τα καινούρια
Να λοιπόν που σκάσανε "τα καινούρια"... σε γενικές γραμμές ο δίσκος γαμάει... κλασικό Nightstalker-ικό ύφος με καλύτερο ήχο από τα προηγούμενα (τα οποία για κάποιον περίεργο λόγο ήταν γραμμένα αρκετά χαμηλά)... ο "Παππούς" παίζει μόνο ένα σόλο (στο Explode)
Tα τρία πρώτα είναι στο γνωστό στυλ, groove-άτα μέχρι εκεί που δεν πάει, το πόδι ασυναίσθητα αρχίζει να χτυπάει στο ρυθμό και με τη μία σκέφτεσαι την επόμενη φορά που θα παίξουν κάπου live... όσο συνεχίζει ο δίσκος, και ανάμεσα στις QOTSA αναφορές στο Line για παράδειγμα ή στα χασίματα του Shadows, αναρωτιέσαι τι σκατά παραπάνω έχουν τόσα και τόσα συγκροτήματα με δεκαπλάσιες πωλήσεις και Ευρωπα'ι'κές τουρνέ τύπου Nebula/sHeavy/και_ξέρω_γω_ποιοι_άλλοι...
εντάξει, δε νομίζω ότι ο μέσος fan υπάρχει περίπτωση να απογοητευθεί, ή έστω να του φανεί μέτριο αφού ό,τι αγαπήσαμε σε αυτούς υπάρχει εδώ

προσωπικές αδυναμίες τα Starriper, Iron, All around, Just a burn, γάμα το... ΟΛΑ

Επισυναπτω παρακατω την κριτικη που θα ανεβει στο Monolith (Virus θελοντος :D ) σε λιγες μερες. Να προσθεσω σε αυτα που ειπες, οτι το εχουν στειλει στο All That's Heavy (το online δισκαδικο του stonerrock.com) κι ελπιζω αυτη τη φορα να τους μαθει κοσμος και περα απο τα συνορα μας, οπως τοσο πολυ το αξιζουν.

Α, παιζουν το Σαββατο στο Budgie (Λαγονησι). Αν ψηνεσαι εσυ ή καποιος αλλος, εγω θα ειμαι εκει σιγουρα.

Finally! 4 years after their last work (The Ritual EP) and almost a decade after their only LP (Use), Nightstalker are back with a new album. No need to repeat here the importance of Nightstalker music. While their work has never passed by the limiting boundaries of our little country, it holds a unique place in the heavy rock world and the band is hailed as one of the best acts that the acid rock scene of the 90’s has to offer. At least for those in the know. Hopefully some things will change with this release, and Just A Burn will reach a bigger audience in and out of Greece.
The huge difference between the band’s earlier works and this one, is the absence of Harry. Just the idea of a Nightstalker without Geros (as he’s better known around here) sounds like rolling a joint without weed. You still smoke but where is the high? Luckily, this isn’t the case. I don’t know how much of this material was written/recorded before Harry’s departure but Tolis the new guitar player, has done an amazing job considering whose shoes he’s been playing in. The record is an aural barrage of heavy, straight in your face riffs and endorphin-releasing solos. Mad props to the new guy.
The record starts with All Around (Satanic Drugs From Outer Space)!!! The subtitle in the parenthesis will give you a good description of what this release is about. Space heavy rock that will feel like a legal natural high after each and every listen. Your mind will take a trip, all around all around… I’m not going to write a song by song review, the album is full of shreddin’ dynamites like All Around, Just A Burn, Don’t Blow My High, Line, Iron. All of these songs carry the trademark vocal delivery of Argy that always leads to an excessive sing-along. The man has that rare talent of writing simple lyrics with a deep impact that you simply cannot get out of your head. Explode continues from where This Is U (from Use) had stopped, meaning a soulful ballad that most heavy rockers won’t dare to write in fear of the cheese factor. Nightstalker are not afraid to lay their feelings out in the open like that and Tolis throws a sweet mind melting solo to cover it. And what can we say about Silver Shark? One of the best tunes Stokoi ever composed, full of vocal and sound effects, with an excellent lyrical content. It rightfully earns its place right next to the band’s other psyched hymns, Mad Prophet, Half Face Of God & Galactic Revolution. The record closes with a mellow, bleak tune called Shadows in a trippin’ atmosphere…
Combine the raw, powerful rhythm section played by Andreas and Argy (yes, he handles both singing and drumming) with all of the above and you’ll get the ecstatic electric pleasure that we've learned to expect from the band. Although this is the 4th release by the mighty Stalker, it feels somehow like it marks a new era for them. Good luck guys. Burn it all…

Ερώτηση: είμαι το μόνο άτομο που το θεωρεί πολύ καλό χωρίς να ενθουσιάστηκε και θα προβεί στην γκαίη σύγκριση με το Use, λέγοντας ότι το latter του αρέσει περισσότερο; (ουφ)

Το Use όντως είναι καλύτερο (μπήκα και 'γω στο τριπάκι της σύγκρισης) αλλά από την άλλη, με πλήρη επίγνωση του τι λέω, το Use είναι άνετα ένας από τους 4-5 καλύτερους δίσκους του ιδιώματος... από τη στιγμή που (πάντα με τα δικά μου κριτήρια) το καινούριο είναι πάρα πολύ καλό έως εξαιρετικό, δεν υπάρχει λόγος να το συγκρίνουμε με το/τα προηγούμενο/α (εξ'ου και η χρησιμοποίηση του "gay" ως επιθετικός προσδιορισμός)

Συμφωνω απολυτα με τον Τιποτενιο (χεχ). Το Use ειναι στα 5 καλυτερα albums του ιδιωματος και η συγκριση αδικει το Just a Burn. Αν ολα πανε καλα με αυτο παντως συζητειται απο ο,τι ξερω η επανεκδοση του Use με καλυτερη παραγωγη.

Μια γρήγορη ακρόαση στο album άφησε πολύ καλές εντυπώσεις πάντως... Χωρίς να είναι τίποτα το πρωτότυπο (δεν είναι και αυτό το ζητούμενο εξάλλου), είναι πολύ καλό για το χώρο...
