Οι σκέψεις μου στις 05:00, σήμερα, τα ξημερώματα σε ένα διεθνές forum που αναρωτιόταν τι συμβαίνει στην Ελλάδα.Quote:
Let's see what we have got here.
- A cop that murdered a teenage boy. He or his friends didn't physically harm the "officers" of the law. There was just a verbal abuse from both sides. That is fairly justified in Greece, nowdays, but clearly, the gun shots shouldn't be the result of this "custom". The coroner's report(I can provide) mentions that the bullet went through the boy's chest downwards. That, pretty much, ensures that the bullet wasn't deflected from the sideways. The ballistics report will be made public in the following days and the bullet, as far as I know, has been sent to some prestigious greek university lab to get under the microscope. In addition, the cop's report, regarding the incident, has been changed twice by now. Not sticking by his story, you wonder? Well, his latest fabricated statement, which is edited by some big-shot, slimy greek lawyer(because his previous advocates refused to represent him) ,is a direct attack against the boy's lifestyle. Well, that wouldn't do him any good, because he comes from a decent family and his school's teachers & stuff have issued a joint public statement that vouches for the kid. Last but not least, the foreign media and some of the greek, as well, have reported that the police car was assaulted by 25 to 30 youths (the number was pretty volatile the first couple of hours). Guess what? There were eye witnesses and a video (circulating in youtube, which I can provide) that tell us a different story. The boy's company argued with the 2 cops while they were inside their car. They parked it a block from that point and then went back on foot in order to argue some more. Then the shootings took place. Trust me when I say that there is not a chance at all of him getting out the mess he created.
-Ever since the euro was the adopted common coin of the fair majority of the EU countries, the prices of pretty much every product in Greece has sky-rocketed. The incompetent governments that have 'governed' since 2002 have been unable to regulate anything so LIFE itself became expensive. The low incomes in Greece didn't help either (I think we were, before the expansion, the country with the lowest income in the EU) and the unemployment rates are high. To worse things up, the latest global economic crisis was the excuse of the government that no work could be done to better the economy and the nailing coffin for the desperate unemployed greek. Well, maybe, things aren't as bad as I describe them to be, since people aren't starving yet but it'll get there eventually depending on the actions that our government will make to ensure the stability of the market.
-I read an article on BBC's website the first day of the riots. It was hailing the greeks as rebels by nature. Well that isn't our nature. We are pretty passive as a country, maybe more that we shoud be. But, even when you poke a calm lion, it will try to hurt you back! So what about the reported riots across all major greek cities, you ask? Well, let's see. It starts like this. Organised Protesters make their demonstrations during the day light. The night the boy died was an exception. Then, you have the anarchists who object public authority and strike against public service buildings, such as police stations and the sort, and banks for the obvious reasons. Normally the protesters would protect their demonstrations and would try to repel the anarchists but this time that wasn't the case in the normal and acceptable extend. The entire fabric of society was backing them up. It was fed up with the lies, the scandals, the economic collapse. But instead of protesting themselves, they merely condoned the actions of anarchists/protesters (something that has never happened as far back as I remember). That wasn't good enough though because if we wanted change we could all believe in, we should all go out of our ways and protested against the government and the system as a whole. So that's a missed great chance that every single greek is discussing the recent days. Then some different folk emerged. The people who for some personal reasons (clearly not ideological) started attacking small businesses. That wasn't moral. That's when the Public's Opinion support started fading. Let me point out now that during this whole riot the government has issued orders that no efforts would be made in order to ensure the safety of anything. That's basically an order for chaos. To top it off, the police force is working with the above people who break into shops and steal the goods. There are actual photographs taken that prove this irrefutable fact, which was made public today in the greek media and I can provide.
I hope I helped.
