Το αμερικάνικο underground metal είναι αυτήν τη στιγμή το μόνο που προσπαθεί με τα δικά του μέσα να δημιουργήσει κάτι πραγματικά αξιόλογο, αν όχι συναρπαστικό. Η Σουηδία μπρος στην Αμερική θυμίζει τα φυτουκλάκια της τάξης. Μπάντες που μπορούν εξίσου «αυθόρμητα» να παίξουν poser, death, thrash, heavy και crust, ωρέ ουστ! Δεν είναι τυχαίο ότι οι Enforcer (καλύτερη σουηδική μέτσαλ μπάντα αυτήν τη στιγμή) προσκυνά Omen και Savage Grave. Γι' αυτό δεν παίζουν και μαϊντανοτραχανάδες.

Tweedy doesn't stay in one place for long, musically speaking, and neither do his almost impossibly adept collaborators in Wilco.

Last year, Wilco released The Whole Love, which meets at the sweet spot where impeccable craftsmanship meets rollicking showmanship. Its songs translate tremendously well in concert — listening to the seven-minute live-wire album-opener, "Art of Almost," it's hard to imagine otherwise — which bodes nicely for the career-spanning set Wilco will perform at the 2012 Newport Folk Festival, recorded live on Friday, July 27 in Newport, R.I.
