Η διάσημη πλέον πρωταγωνίστρια του "Twilight", Κρίστεν Στιούαρτ, υποδύεται την Τζόαν Τζετ στη βιογραφία του θρυλικού ροκ γκρουπ "The Runaways". Την πλαισιώνουν οι Ντακότα Φάνινγκ ("Push"), Σκάουτ Τέιλορ Κόμπτον ("Halloween") και ο υποψήφιος για Όσκαρ Μάικλ Σάνον ("Revolutionary Road").
Την περίοδο 1975 με 1978, μεσουρανούσε στα αμερικάνικα charts ένα ροκ συγκρότημα με μέλη κοπέλες στην εφηβεία. Οι "The Runaways" άλλαξαν ριζικά τη ροκ σκηνή με την τεράστια επιτυχία τους, ενώ έχτισαν το μονοπάτι για μερικές από τις πιο γνωστές σύγχρονες ροκ τραγουδίστριες. Η Τζόαν Τζετ ήταν το μόνο από τα μέλη που κατάφερε να επιστρέψει στα charts μετά την στροφή σε solo καριέρα.
Το "Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll" ΄βγάζει τον Andy Serkis ξανά στο προσκήνιο, και τον αποσυνδέει από το ρόλο του Γκόλουμ στον Άρχοντα των Δαχτυλιδιών.

Universal's film and TV divisions are joining forces to adapt Stephen King's epic fantasy series The Dark Tower.
The companies will produce three films and a TV shows based on King's seven Dark Tower novels, short stories and comic books.
Ron Howard will direct the first film and first season of the TV show, which will be written by Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman.
The hugely ambitious and rather unprecedented project was previously in development at J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot production house, then the rights were obtained by Imagine Entertainment in April.
The heavy hitting producer lineup includes Goldsman, Howard and Brian Grazer. Kerry Foster will executive produce the first film with Todd Hallowell and Erica Huggins.
The books chronicle the mysterious The Gunslinger as he travels across a desolate and vaguely post-apocalyptic landscape in his quest for a black tower. Portals along the way eventually allow contact with our own modern world.
“I’ve been waiting for the right team to bring the characters and stories in these books to film and TV viewers around the world,” King said. “Ron, Akiva, Brian along with Universal and NBC have a deep interest and passion for the The Dark Tower series and I know that will translate into an intriguing series of films and TV shows that respect the origins and the characters in The Dark Tower that fans have come to love.”
Howard, Grazer and Goldsman plan first film in the trilogy to be immediately followed by a TV series that will bridge the second film. After the second film, the TV series will show the adventures of The Gunslinger as a young man as a bridge to the third film and beyond.
“The worlds of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series are richly detailed, inter-locking and deeply connected,” Goldsman said. “By telling this story across media platforms and over multiple hours—and with a view to telling it completely—we have our best chance of translating Roland’s quest to reach The Dark Tower onto screen. We are proceeding with tremendous excitement, fidelity to the source material and, quite frankly, no small amount of awe at this opportunity.”
The books have sold more than 20 million copies in 40 countries.

'Goodfellas' television series is on the way
Nicholas Pileggi to make mob movie for the small screen
Martin Scorsese’s 1990's classic Goodfellas is set to be resurrected for a television series. Nicholas Pileggi, who wrote both the Oscar-winning mafia movie and the book it was based on, will pen "at least the pilot episode" according to Deadline.com.
The original followed Ray Liotta's Henry Hill as he works his way up the mob hierarchy.
Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci, who won an Oscar for his role, co-starred as fellow mobsters Jimmy Conway and Tommy DeVito. There has been no discussion of the cast for the potential small screen adaptation.
Meanwhile, Scorsese's TV debut Boardwalk Empire was screened in the US this week on HBO, and the series has been renewed for a second season after only the first broadcast.

Nine Inch Nails front man Trent Reznor is developing a new TV series for HBO called Year Zero. The new series is described as a grim and dark sci-fi epic that Reznor's chronicled in his music. He also wants to use Steven Spielberg's Alternate Reality Game from the movie A.I. for inspiration, the game was created by 42 Entertainment.
Reznor is working with producer Lawernce Bender on the project. This is the same producer that's worked on films such as Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds, Reservoir Dogs, An Inconvenient Truth and a few other projects. It was also revealed that they brought on Carnivale writer Daniel Knauf to write for the new series. Carnivale was a great series that we will never get closure on!

Αρονόφσκι με τις ευλογίες του Preacher;
Τελικά από εδώ το πάει, από εκεί το πάει, ο Αρονόφσκι φαίνεται αποφασισμένος να σκηνοθετήσει κόμικ. Πρώτα περιτριγύριζε το δεύτερο "Γούλβεριν", μετά ήρθε το φλερτ του με το Σούπερμαν, που ακόμα βρίσκεται σε εκκρεμότητα και τώρα ακόμα μια μεταφορά, αυτή του «Preacher», του σκοτεινού και ... ανίερου κόμικ, διά χειρός Γκαρθ Ένις και Στιβ Ντίλον, βγαίνει μπροστά με το όνομά του ως επικρατέστερο για τη σκηνοθετική καρέκλα. Όποιος έχει μπει λίγο στο σύμπαν του Preacher, υποψιάζεται ότι ο φακός του Αρονόσφκι πάνω σε στο ανατρεπτικό, βλάσφημο και καλτ προφίλ του κεντρικού ήρωα και της γραφής του Ένις μάλλον θα κάνει καλή δουλειά.
Και για να θυμηθούμε τους «μνηστήρες» της κινηματογραφικής εκδοχής του αιδεσιμότατου (στο τραπέζι είχε πέσει και η πρόταση για τηλεοπτική μεταφορά) ο Σαμ Μέντες είχε κάποτε κάνει κρούση, αλλά μετά την απόσυρση του ενδιαφέροντος μόνο το όνομα του Τζο Κάρναχαν (Smokin’ Aces, The A-Team) φαίνεται να «παίζει». Αν βέβαια ο Αρονόφσκι ενδιαφέρεται σοβαρά για το πρότζεκτ και είναι διαθέσιμος για γυρίσματα μέσα στο 2011 δε χρειάζεται να αναρωτηθούμε για το ποιος θα επικρατήσει. Κρατήστε ότι το σενάριο υπογράφει η πένα του "Big Fish", Τζον Όγκουστ, ενώ για το καστ οι παραγωγοί θα πρέπει να ψάξουν ανάμεσα στους πιο αθεόφοβους, που θα αψηφήσουν τις πουριτανικές φωνές της Αμερικής και όχι μόνο.

In what is sure to be one of the hottest properties of the rapidly approaching pilot season, former Lost executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz are developing a fairy-tale-themed drama series. Oh, and they’re getting a little help from—stop me if you’ve heard of this guy—Damon Freakin’ Lindelof!
Here’s what I know right this second…
Kitsis and Horowitz are getting ready to pitch the project to ABC Studios, where the two currently have an overall deal. If it gets a green light, Lindelof—who also has a deal at ABC—will serve as a consultant.
So what is this thing? Good question. The only additional intel I’ve been able to glean from my sources is that it will have a female lead. (Paging Sarah Michelle Gellar… )
Based on the pedigree alone, I’m going to declare it the breakout hit of the 2011-12 TV season.

Firefly leading man Nathan Fillion has urged fans to support him in his bid to headline the film adaptation of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.
Few actors command geek heartstrings in the way that Nathan Fillion does. He was the star of the beloved Firefly, and the antagonists of the final season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. He was Sgt. Buck in Halo 3: ODST, and he’s been rumored to be the front-runner for the role of Ant-Man in the Avengers movie. Now, he may have the chance to add yet another “geeky” role to his credits: Nathan Drake, the charming leading man of Naughty Dog’s popular Uncharted games.
This past weekend, it was announced that David O. Russell – having jumped ship from the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies film adaptation – had signed on to direct the game-to-movie conversion of Naughty Dog’s 2007 hit Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. When he learned the news, Fillion sounded the call to arms via Twitter:
“If ever there was a Twitter campaign, let this be it. Rise, ye Browncoats. Rise, ye Castillions. RISE! http://j.mp/aEGe79″
In other words, Nathan Fillion wants to play Nathan Drake, and he wants his Firefly and Castle devotees to lobby Columbia Pictures to cast him in the role.
I am completely in favor of this. As seen in Captain Mal Reynolds, Fillion has the Indiana Jones/Han Solo/John McClane/Tintin act down cold. Sure, he might not sound like the Nate Drake we all know and love, but eh, maybe they can just get Nolan North to do the dub voicing. That they share the same first name – double Nathan all the way, across the sky! – is just extra icing on this particularly sweet cake.
