i knew this girl when I was young
she took her spikes from everyone
one night she swallowed up the lake
that's how you sing amazing grace
it sounds like razors in my ears
that bell's been ringing now for years
someday I'll give it all away
that's how you sing amazing grace
oh, can you hear that sweet, sweet sound?
yeah, I was lost but now I'm found
sometimes there's nothing left to save that's how you sing amazing grace

Mama told me when I was young
Come sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say
And if you do this it'll help you some sunny day
Oh, take your time don't live too fast
Troubles will come and they will pass
Go find a woman you'll find love
And don't forget son there is someone up above
And be a simple kind of man
Be something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son if you can?
Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need is in your soul
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try
All that I want for you my son is to be satisfied
And be a simple kind of man
Be something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son if you can? Oh yes, I will
Boy, don't you worry you'll find yourself
Follow your heart and nothing else
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try
All that I want for you my son is to be satisfied
And be a simple kind of man
Be something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son if you can?
Baby be a simple, be a simple man
Be something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man

''I'm sick of food
So why am i so hungry
I was sick of you
But i don't mind seeing your little face
I was sick of love
So i just stopped feeling
But i couldn't find anything to take its place
What'll i do with my time?
I'm sick of drink
So why am i so thirsty
I must have been born on the planet mercury
I just called to ask you what i said last night
I just called to ask you what i did last night
So what'll i do with my time?
Now i wake up and i don't have any gravity
Now i wake up still walking in my sleep
Now i wake up feel the world drawing away from me
And now i wake up still walking in my sleep
I'm sick of food
So why am i so hungry
I'm sick of feeling the world draw away from me
And now i wake up
Yeah i remember
Feel the whole world draw away from me
Now i wake up what good is it
Another bright nothing
Another day''

Brother you were never there for me
When my father died I thought that you would take my hand
You said I was just too young
Sister I can tell you all the love I have for you
Our mother sleeps in silent peace because your love was pure
But brother you were never there for me
When my father died I thought that you would take my hand
You said I was just too young
If I could erase one moment of pain
I'd throw away everything, even fame
If I could play god do you know what I'd do?
I'd swim through your blood and kill the cancer in you
Brother you were never there for me
I was just too young, now I've grown and I can see
That brother you were never there for me
When my father died I thought that you would take my hand
You said I was just too young
If I could play god
I'd swim through your blood and kill the cancer in you
My brother

Translation of the song from the Second Finale
of Die Dreigroschenoper (The Threepenny Opera):
MACHEATH: You gentlemen who think you have a mission
to purge us of the seven deadly sins,
should first sort out the basic food position,
then start your preaching! That's where it begins.
You lot who preach restraint and watch your waist as well,
should learn, for once, the way the world is run:
However much you twist, whatever lies you tell,
food is the first thing, morals follow on.
So first make sure that those who now are starving
get proper helpings when we all start carving.
VOICE OFF-STAGE: What keeps mankind alive?
MACHEATH: What keeps mankind alive? The fact that millions
are daily tortured, stifled, punished, silenced, oppressed.
Mankind can keep alive thanks to its brilliance
in keeping its humanity repressed.
CHORUS: For once you must try not to shirk the facts:
Mankind is kept alive by bestial acts.
MRS. PEACHUM: You say that girls may strip with your permission.
You draw the line dividing art from sin.
So first sort out the basic food position,
then start your preaching! That's where we begin.
You lot who bank on your desires and our disgust
Should learn for once the way the world is run:
Whatever lies you tell, however much you twist,
food is the first thing, morals follow on.
So first make sure that those who are now starving
get proper helpings when we all start carving.
VOICE OFF-STAGE: What keeps mankind alive?
MRS. PEACHUM: What keeps mankind alive? The fact that millions
are daily tortured, stifled, punished, silenced, oppressed.
Mankind can keep alive thanks to its brilliance
in keeping its humanity repressed.
CHORUS: For once you must try not to shirk the facts:
Mankind is kept alive by bestial acts.
Adapted from John Gay's 'The Beggar's Opera' (1728 ),
translated from English to German by Brecht's assistant Elisabeth Hauptmann,
This translation back into English was made by Ralph Manheim and John Willett for a later staging.
(In another translation, made by Michael Feingold in 1989,
the song would instead be called 'How Do All Humans Live?')

The rain inside my head becomes an ocean
And it's dying to come out.
But I can't shed no tears, blank emotion,
just floating around.
From chair to bed but i can't sleep,
you're not here.
I take a sword to fight the fear over you.
Can not think, can not drink, can not weep, can not sleep
Can't believe what those liars are telling me,
that you died all alone with your hand near
the phone,
that you didn't get an answer 'cos I wasn't
home
Just two days ago we had such fun
The laughing just went on and on...
Just one day ago you smiled that smile
Which took me a thousand miles away.
From bed to bath, my brain explodes
It's just not fair.
Where is the sword that can beat death
'Cos I want you.
Look outside and count the stars above and
there are 32.
Yesterday there were 31, so that one must be
you.
I miss you, don't know what to do
Don't know where to go, it's the end

Just a spoon full of sugar
Makes the medicine go down
Sweet Mary-Jane won't you lay me down
Lost my heart in California, lost my mind
Shot me down with a revolver, got me high
Then a heart of gold came on the stereo
Mr Young made me cry
Then all the colours of the rainbow
Fell in my eyes
I lost my mind long ago
Down that yellow brick road
I lost my mind long ago
Down that yellow brick road
Took a train to the river
Where I drove right in
That skinny dippin' girl
Made the blue bird sing
Fell in love in California, she blew my mind
She shot me down with her revolver
She got me high
Then the weather man came on the radio
Said there be sunshine
Then all the colours of the rainbow
Fell in my mind
I lost my mind long ago
Down that yellow brick road
I lost my mind long ago
Down that yellow brick road

I saw you older-- It looked like Death had been at your face. Another cigarette, Almost gone when the morning first breaks. Too many people, Too many people know your first name. I'm just one, And after a while I can't bring myself to say: "Be sure you notice always what you're eating"
New York nights, 1926-- It all looked so different You've starved your telephones, Now your servants can't bring you messages. The open fields where people color to no reply; You can't help it-- If you get out of bed you might paint a sky.
We used to be lovers a long time ago.
Your God hates me-- He can't feel my flesh; He leaves me panting like a dog at the edge of your bed.
Your God hates me.

Trying to remember what my daddy said Before too much time took away his head He said we're going back and I'll show you what I'm talking about Going back to Cypress River, back to the old farmhouse
(Prairie wind blowing through my head) (Prairie wind blowing through my head) (Trying to remember what Daddy said) (Prairie wind blowing through my head)
I tried to tell the people but they never heard a word I say They say there's nothing out there but wheat fields anyway Just a farmer's wife hanging laundry in her back yard Out on the prairie where the winds blow long and hard
(Prairie wind blowing through my head) (Prairie wind blowing through my head) (Trying to remember what Daddy said) (Prairie wind blowing through my head)
Late at night, lights dancing in the northern sky Like the Indian spirits trying to show me how to fly You can see into the future but it may be a mirage Like a new car sitting there in your old garage
(Prairie wind blowing through my head) (Prairie wind blowing through my head) (Prairie wind blowing through my head) (Trying to remember what Daddy said)
There's a place on the prairie where evil and goodness play Daddy told me all about it but I don't remember what he said It might be afternoon and it might be the dead of night But you'll know when you see it 'cause it sure is a hell of a sight
(Prairie wind blowing through my head) (Prairie wind blowing through my head) (Prairie wind blowing through my head) (Prairie wind blowing through my head)
(Prairie wind blowing through my head) (Prairie wind blowing through my head)
Prairie wind blowing through my head (Prairie wind blowing through my head) Trying to remember what Daddy said (Prairie wind blowing through my head) Before too much time took away his head (Prairie wind blowing through my head) He said we're going back and I'll show you what I'm talking about (Prairie wind blowing through my head)
(Prairie wind blowing through my head) Going back to Cypress River, back to the old farmhouse (Prairie wind blowing through my head) (Prairie wind blowing through my head) (Prairie wind blowing through my head)

This land is your land This land is my land From California to the New York island; From the red wood forest to the Gulf Stream waters This land was made for you and Me.
As I was walking that ribbon of highway, I saw above me that endless skyway: I saw below me that golden valley: This land was made for you and me.
I've roamed and rambled and I followed my footsteps To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts; And all around me a voice was sounding: This land was made for you and me.
When the sun came shining, and I was strolling, And the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling, As the fog was lifting a voice was chanting: This land was made for you and me.
As I went walking I saw a sign there And on the sign it said "No Trespassing." But on the other side it didn't say nothing, That side was made for you and me.
In the shadow of the steeple I saw my people, By the relief office I seen my people; As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking Is this land made for you and me?
Nobody living can ever stop me, As I go walking that freedom highway; Nobody living can ever make me turn back This land was made for you and me.
Do you ever look around
turn your ear to the ground
show your face to the sky
on a night when the skies echoe sounds
from inside of your mind
on the stage that you shone
where the sun did become you
and move with your thoughts
through the sighs and the scenes
of the worlds you have seen
and the sights that have been
your reflection in shadows and dreams?
- your reflection in shadows and dreams
Did you ever see a man
who did walk down the street
white robe with no shoes on his feet
and on top of his head place a box with two slits
and the sign from his neck said
I do not exist
or a woman who could not remember her name
did stutter and stutter
again and again
and saw you and called you her son
her eyes said
my being is gone
but still Im not dead?
Miserere
Have you ever seen a sound
have you listened to an image
have you ever touched a thought
have you ever tasted nothing
have you ever told a lie
that was true more than truth
because truth it had lied
all its life when it spoke to you?
And what did it say
it is that it is this
this goes here here is there
it is not yes it is
it was dulling your senses
your eyes they were bound
have you ever my friends
been looking around?
And the other replies
with a wave of a hand
I am already here
in this promised land
but not by a god and not by a king
and not by a spirit
deep from within
I am here
because a miracles a whim
its a flash of glory
its an empty tin
and maybe might lets you in
not to save you
but to keep on looking-
Miserere
Have you ever
been so happy that youre sad?
that the lights turn to stars
and the stars become eyes
and hellos are goodbyes
and the laughs are the sighs
and the show disappears with the note
until next time
Long live living
if living can be this
Long live living
if living can be this
Long live living
if living can be this
Long live living
if living can be this
Do you ever look around
and find what is yet to be found?
I can't stand the way you treat girls
Aren't they just people too?
Something for you to do?
You like to fuck them
But their feeling don't mean shit to you
With your many ways
You've always got somethimg to prove
Open your eyes 'cuz it's time you see
Its's time we were all treated equally
Just when you think
A woman's only there to take to bed
You better think what's going on through her head
You were raised to think
A woman's job is slave to man
But I'm here to tell you different
You probably won't understand
Conditioning's got you fucked up
So you crave the upperhand
Just try to look within yourself
And change it if you can
There's no room for bruising egos
Man you rate supreme
But equality for humanity
Is what I dream
Girls are just the same as you
You're no smarter,you're no better
And only when you realize
We'll take it a step further

J'ai crû découvrir un grand écrivain.
J'avais dix huit ans quand j'ai lu "l'Voyage"
Ton ami Hitler, Louis-Ferdinand,
So many years now together?
All those good times, ups and downs
So many joys raising up those kids
Well they've moved on now, out of town So many times she tried
So many times she cried
Every morning comes the sun
And they both rise into the day
Holding on to what they've done She loves him so
She loves him so
She loves him so
She does what she has to She loves him so
She loves him so
She loves him so
She does what she needs to In a Ramada Inn near the grapevine
They stop to rest for the night
Traveling down south looking for good times
Visiting old friends feels right People they haven't seen him forever
Since high school, Santa Jose times
Restaurant food and the bottle
Had a few drinks
Now they're feeling fine Every morning comes the sun
And they both rise to the day
Holding on to what they've done He loves her so
He loves her so
He loves her so
He does what he has to He loves her so
He loves her so
He loves her so
He does what he needs to Seem like lately things are changing
Seems like lately things are going south
A few drinks now and she hardly knows him
He just looks away and he checks out And when she says "it's time for him to do something,
Maybe talk to his old friends who gave it up."
He just pours himself another tall one
Closes his eyes and says "that's enough" Every morning comes the sun
And they both rise to the day
Holding on to what they've done She loves him so
She loves him so
She loves him so
She does what she has to He loves her so
He loves her so
He loves her so
He does what he needs to Every morning comes the sun
And they both rise to the day
Holding on to what they've done He loves her so
He loves her so
He loves her so
He does what he needs to She loves him so
She loves him so
She loves him so
She does what she has to

Darling behave, though your boy is gone, or so we've heard
Ophelia would rise if it was her song and say these words
"Summer comes with its color all to take your breath away
Winter turns all the summer's love to gray"
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ah, ah, ah, ah
Darling behave, though the barnyard won't say where he's gone
Ophelia would sing if the orchard let her what went wrong
"Summer comes, yeah, as loud as hope and takes your breath away
Winter takes what the summer had to say"

It was in the rainy season, waiting for the train,
Leaving in the afternoon, all on your own again.
Do you really understand it, can you tell me why it is this way?
Sad lady, at her portmanteau, with no words left to say,
Saving that its only something that can happen any day.
Too loose, circus rider, turn on your childish grin,
Shine on through the long black night, go ride the dawn again.
Your eyes are stars that sweetly twinkle, aureole around your head aflame.
Sad story that you cannot tell, where no one is to blame.
And anyhow its only something sure to come down with the rain.
Would i could hear, your song so clear, the words could touch the air,
And catch the moon's reflection in the colour of her hair.
To ease this ache of loneliness and blind the facetious stare.
Even now I do remember one thing more that is not told,
Just a slightly twisted crystal heart to keep you from the cold.
All up the coast along the highway, nobody there will know your name,
So strange how things should work out now, yet still remain the same.
And even so you know there's nothing that can ever really change...
What some men will do here for diamonds
What some men will do here for gold
They're wounded but they just keep on climbing
And sleep by the side of the road

I do think that women could make politics irrelevant.
By as a kind of spontaneous cooperative action,
the like of which we have never seen.
Which is so far from people's ideas of state structure
and vital social structure that seems to them like total anarchy.
And what it really is is very subtle forms of interrellation
which do not follow sort of hierachical pattern which is
fundamentally patriarchal.
The opposite to patriarchy is not matriarchy but fraternity.
And I think it's women who are going to have to
break this spiral of power
and find the trick of cooperation.
Well I stepped into an avalanche,
It covered up my soul;
When I am not this hunchback that you see,
I sleep beneath the golden hill.
You who wish to conquer pain,
You must learn, learn to serve me well.
You strike my side by accident
As you go down for your gold.
The cripple here that you clothe and feed
Is neither starved nor cold;
He does not ask for your company,
Not at the centre, the centre of the world.
When I am on a pedestal,
You did not raise me there.
Your laws do not compel me
To kneel grotesque and bare.
I myself am the pedestal
For this ugly hump at which you stare.
You who wish to conquer pain,
You must learn what makes me kind;
The crumbs of love that you offer me,
They're the crumbs I've left behind.
Your pain is no credential here,
It's just the shadow, shadow of my wound.
I have begun to long for you,
I who have no greed
I have begun to ask for you,
I who have no need.
You say you've gone away from me,
But I can feel you when you breathe.
Do not dress in those rags for me,
I know you are not poor
You don't love me quite so fiercely now
When you know that you are not sure,
It is your turn, beloved,
It is your flesh that I wear.

The new moon rode high in the crown of the metropolis
Shinin, like who on top of this?
People was tusslin, arguin and bustlin
Gangstaz of gotham hardcore hustlin
I'm wrestlin with words and ideas
My ears is picky, seekin what will transmit
The scribes can apply to transcript, yo
This ain't no time where the usual is suitable
Tonight alive, let's describe the inscrutable
The indisputable, we new york the narcotic
Strength in metal and fiber optics
Where mercenaries is paid to trade hot stock tips
For profits, thirsty criminals take pockets
Hard knuckles on the second hands of workin class watches
Skyscrapers is collosus, the cost of living
Is preposterous, stay alive, you play or die, no options
No batman and robin, can't tell between
The cops and the robbers, they both partners, they all heartless
With no conscience, back streets stay darkened
Where unbeliever hearts stay hardened
My eagle talons stay sharpened, like city lights stay throbbin
You either make a way or stay sobbin, the shiny apple
Is bruised but sweet and if you choose to eat
You could lose your teeth, many crews retreat
Nightly news repeat, who got shot down and locked down
Spotlight to savages, nasdaq averages
My narrative, rose to explain this existance
Amidst the harbor lights which remain in the distance
So much on my mind that I can't recline
Blastin holes in the night til she bled sunshine
Breathe in, inhale vapors from bright stars that shine
Breathe out, weed smoke retrace the skyline
Heard the bass ride out like an ancient mating call
I can't take it y'all, I can feel the city breathin
Chest heavin, against the flesh of the evening
Sigh before we die like the last train leaving
Breathin in deep city breaths, sittin on shitty steps
We stoop to new lows, hell froze the night the city slept
The beast crept through concrete jungles
Communicatin with one another
And ghetto birds where waters fall
From the hydrants to the gutters
The beast walk the beats, but the beats we be makin
You on the wrong side of the track, lookin visibly shaken
Taken them plungers, plungin to death that's painted by the numbers
With crime unapplied pressure, cats is playin god
But havin children by a lesser baby mother but fuck it
We played against each other like puppets, swearin you got pull
When the only pull you got is the wool over your eyes
Gettin knowledge in jail like a blessing in disguise
Look in the skies for god, what you see besides the smog
Is broken dreams flying away on the wings of the obscene
Thoughts that people put in the air
Places where you could get murdered over a glare
But everything is fair
It's a paradox we call reality
So keepin it real will make you casualty of abnormal normality
Killers born naturally like, mickey and mallory
Not knowing the ways'll get you capped like an nba salary
Some cats be emceeing to illustrate what we be seeing
Hard to be a spiritual being when shit is shakin what you believe in
For trees to grow in brooklyn, seeds need to be planted
I'm asking if y'all feel me and the crowd left me stranded
My blood pressure boiled and rose, cause new york niggaz
Actin spoiled at shows, to the winners the spoils go
I take the l, transfer to the 2, head to the gates
New york life type trife the roman empire state
So much on my mind I just can't recline
Blastin holes in the night til she bled sunshine
Breathe in, inhale vapors from bright stars that shine
Breathe out, weed smoke retrace the skyline
Yo don't the bass ride out like an ancient mating call
I can't take it y'all, I can feel the city breathin
Chest heavin, against the flesh of the evening
Sigh before we die like the last train leaving
Yo...on the amen, corner I stood lookin at my former hood
Felt the spirit in the wind, knew my friend was gone for good
Threw dirt on the casket, the hurt, I couldn't mask it
Mixin down emotions, struggle I hadn't mastered
I coreograph seven steps to heaven
And hell, waiting to exhale and make the bread leavened
Veteran of a cold war it's chica-i-go for
What I know or, what's known
So some days I take the bus home, just to touch home
From the crib I spend months gone
Sat by the window with a clutched dome listenin to shorties cuss long
Young girls with weak minds, but they butt strong
Tried to call, or at least beep the lord, but didn't have a touch-tone
It's a dog-eat-dog world, you gotta mush on
Some of this land I must own
Outta the city, they want us gone
Tearin down the 'jects creatin plush homes
My circumstance is between cabrini and love jones
Surrounded by hate, yet I love home
Ask my God how he thought travellin the world sound
Found it hard to imagine he hadn't been past downtown
It's deep, I heard the city breathe in it's sleep
Of reality I touch, but for me it's hard to keep
Deep, I heard my man breathe in his sleep
Of reality I touch, but for me it's hard to keep
Ζυζητάει με κάποιον. Με τη μαριονέτα που τον φωνάζει Σάρλ; Ή κάνει εσωτερικό διάλογο με το alter psycho-ego; Και μιλάει για πρόσωπα, αγόρια, ξενοδοχεία, φαντάσματα, "ο Σαρλ είναι νεκρός". Μα ποιος είναι επιτέλους αυτός ο Σαρλ; Και γιατί είναι νεκρός;
Υπάρχει πρόβλημα. Je ne parle pas francais και ΧΡΕΙΑΖΟΜΑΙ ΜΕΤΑΦΡΑΣΗ, ποιός από εδώ μιλάει Γαλλικά κι έχει τη διάθεση να κάνει εξ ακοής μεταφράση 20'45'';
Τώρα που είναι ακόμα χειμώνας και μας καταναλώνει το σπίτι;
Που βαράμε υπαρξιακά, έτσι, επειδή σεβόμαστε τον εαυτό μας;
Ε;
