χμ το σκέφτηκα ως "racism and racial prejudice in popular music" αλλά δεν είμαι και πολύ σίγουρη τι θέλω να πω. Μάλλον θα ψάξω για περιστατικά διαφόρων ειδών- οτιδήποτε σχετικό με ρατσισμό και φυλετικές διαφορές- από τα πολύ μικρά μέχρι τα πολύ μεγάλα. Δηλαδή αν κάποτε απαγορεύτηκε σε κάποιο μαύρο μουσικό να συμμετέχει σε δουλειά λευκών για παράδειγμα, θα το αναφέρω. Αν κάποτε κάποιος λευκός καλλιτέχνης σκότωσε κάποιο μαύρο λόγω χρώματος, θα το αναφέρω κι αυτό :ρ Επίσης θα ψάξω για τραγούδια με σχετικούς στίχους, είτε ρατσιστικούς είτε αντιρατσιστικούς, όπως αυτό του neil young πχ ή το blackbird των beatles μαζί με ερμηνεία μιας και δεν είναι ξεκάθαρο το νόημα.

BLACKFOOT drummer Jakson Spires passed away this morning from a brain aneurysm in Ft. Pierce, Florida.

Spires, a founding member of BLACKFOOT, wrote or co-wrote nearly every BLACKFOOT song recorded from 1969 until 1986, including two of the band's biggest hits, "Highway Song" and "Fly Away". Between the years when the band separated and now, he has had several projects such as DRIVIN' SIDEWAYS, THE CONQUEROOTS and SOUTHERN ROCK ALLSTARS.

In addition to performing in America and Europe, he recorded numerous sessions with legends such as Benny Mardones, Phil Lynott of THIN LIZZY and blues greats Willie Dixon and Albert King, just to name a few. Jakson, also known as "Thunderfoot", ignited crowds with his powerhouse drumming and creative style.

απλά το συγκεκριμένο σύμβολο, ό,τι κι αν ήταν αρχικά, πλέον είναι κάτι προσβλητικό για τους μαύρους αμερικάνους. Δεν το θεωρούνε "σύμβολο μάχης αλλά μας θυμίζει τι περάσαμε". Το θεωρούνε ρατσιστικό σύμβολο, γιατί έτσι χρησιμοποιείται. (Ρώτησα την καθηγήτρια κοινωνιολογίας μου, που είναι μαύρη από αλαμπάμα, για αυτό το θέμα με πολλές λεπτομέρειες. Της είπα μάλιστα και για τους skynyrd και τη σημαία για παράδειγμα. Γι' αυτό πετάγομαι =) )

Τη μέρα που μιλήσαμε για αυτό το θέμα στο μάθημα, πήραν μέρος κι άλλοι αμερικάνοι στη συζήτηση (και λευκοί), όχι μόνο αυτή, οπότε δεν είναι μόνο δική της άποψη. Είναι ρε παιδί μου σαν να φοράς τη σβάστικα και να λες πως σου αρέσει σαν σύμβολο, ή ότι είναι αρχαίο ελληνικό σύμβολο ή τι σκατά ειναι.
Με αυτό δε θέλω να πω κάτι για τους skynyrd, άλλωστε δεν έχω ασχοληθεί και τόσο με τους στίχους τους κλπ οπότε δε μπορώ να έχω άποψη. Μιλάω μόνο για το θέμα της σημαίας και πώς χρησιμοποιείται.
