From the highest mountains I hail you all!
Concerning the latest news on Spiritual Beggars...there is a live album and a DVD due to release soon.I think the next studio album won't be much longer, although Spiritual Beggars are no more on MFN!There are new ideas for songs, so get movin'...
I am pretty sure that the athenian show will be heard on the live and that there will be scenes from Athens in the DVD,so preper yourselves for crazy face spotting...
When the new Grand Magus album is out, go grab it! The same goes for the next The Quill spinner planned for late August
I suppose loads of you are on holidays right now, unlike me, so let's hope September will be hot as hell. Can't wait for that...

Hey,
just a few days before we devastate Chania,Crete...
Spiritual Beggars's deal with MFN was for three records, all of them have been delivered by the band, so now they are free and look around for something else...
I guess that due to our short holidays the forum will be silent for a bit, but don't worry, we'll return more in the mood!
Skal,
... as some of us are filthy net junkies... we will keep rot online even if it will be holiday time
I suppose so... hope not :p
Inside Charmers' website is postponed for 2-3 weeks later I suppose too :dangry:

What's goin on about the new Grand Magus album, Monument? When is to be released? I've heard that it will be more doomy than their debut... is that true?

04-08-2003, 15:07
Hey.
well, the next Grand Magus album is due for release in September, so hold you breath...
According to JB it will be more viking!I don't know if it'll be more doomy, but the melodies will remain and the doom blues principle won't change. What matters to me is the quality of it and with JB you need not to worry about that.
Skal,
Yeah that's true the quality matters so let's hope that it'll be as kick-ass as their debut!

The pic of my humbleness is a fake one, so don't bother, only the Abramis Brama (http://www.abramisbrama.com) t-shirt is real...hey VirusIX!
Although I intended to post sthg about our nasty stay at Chania, I changed my mind...due to the strong arm of the law.
The official release date for the next, much awaited The Quill record is September,22nd!The title is "Horray! It's A Deathtrip".

so it's high time we broke the silence...and that you all come back from yer holidays, er?
I though of starting some new threads that some may find interesting or useful.
The website of our fan club will be delayed for some time. At the moment Mike Amott is very busy with Arch Enemy,so...let's be patient.
I don't have much news right now, I am awaiting the new Grand Magus and The Quill releases, hope you too.

All hail,
after all this post has no big news to announce, seemingly every member of the godly Spiritual Beggars is up to different things, that have nothing to do with the band. Michael is jamming with Arch Enemy preparing themselves for the imminent tour with the metal gods Nevermore. Ludde is busy with his daughter Elisabeth, Roger with Quill and their soon to come album, JB has a lot to cope with concerning Grand Magus' "Monument"...and Per writes stuff for a new Mojobone runner.
However nine new songs are sparcely structured by Amott/Witt...
Skal,

Cant wait for some new product from the Beggars. On Fire surpassed all my expectations from them - a true masterpiece, and live while only being a 50 minute set was the best I have ever witnessed by a band.
Would be great to get a proper release of the On Fire tour on either cd or DVD.

Amott's on tour with Arch Enemy in the States supporting Slayer.JB is busy with Monument and Roger with Hooray!...,think Per focuses on Mojobone, Ludwig has lots of family stuff going on.I think we'll have to wait till after Christmas time to have some solid news on Spiritual Beggars.

Hail,
so the last news on my account is this:
Inside Charmers have been trying to drag Amott down here for a huge party. The band's management announced us that he is very busy til Christmas time, so we will have to wait for January/February. I think maybe we could arrange something neat without Mike for December.MFN has promised cool goodies...

actually there is no news worth it, but as it seems the band is on a big sleep, which of course in my mind speaks for a helluva good new year to come for the Beggars.
I will soon try to wake some dudes up with annoying emails or snail mail, yeah snail mail still rules, har, har!!!
I also would like to set up smthg like a tea party with the members, at least those resided in Athens.

Hi there,
can anybody tell me why the SB homepage is not working? (or is it just my silly computer?)
Thanks
The_Painless
14-01-2004, 00:08
No, don't blame your computer. There seems to be something wrong. So wrong, that when you try to access the site, the only thing you see is a "sorry, we couldn't find what you're looking for" message. Is this something to worry about or is it just temporary? :(
It seems that the domain or the whole site is down :?
Inside Charmer
20-01-2004, 12:41
Michael Amott is with Arch Enemy on a tour supporting Iron Maiden in Canada!
According to him, the breakdown of www.spiritualbeggars.com (http://www.spiritualbeggars.com) is temporary and soon the website will be high and mighty ...possibly with new content. You can always advise yourself on www.insidecharmers.tk (http://www.insidecharmers.tk) Per Wiberg will visit Greece with Opeth, a good, solid progressive band from Sweden...he's also to be seen on their DVD.
In April, Spiritual Beggars will get together...

Hej,
it's been a while since the last update and I guess this is because of things standing still at the moment.
I simply wanted to remind everyone that oragn hero/guitar shredder Per Wiberg will be with Opeth in Athens next Saturday, March the 6th.
Hopefully I will recognize some Inside Charmers in the crowd...

As Michael Amott keeps on touring with Arch Enemy and there hasn't been any news for months, does this mean that Spiritual Beggars have become a side project for Michael? Any information from the other bandmembers (Per Wiberg?) about the band? :(
Inside Charmer
25-03-2004, 13:53
Spiritual Beggars has always been kind of a project, since "Ad Astra" they have turned more into a band. I won't agree that they are Amott's side project. It's just that Arch Enemy are at the moment very successful, which means that SB will have to wait.
First thing, they get a new record deal!
There are no real news to be posted...anyway!

Back to Spiritual Beggars, ok?
According to Amott the new songs are much better than the ones on On Fire! A combination of heaviness and melody. However they are in a very primitive stage, JB hasn't even listened to the demo...he he! But he will today!
So, cross your fingers, mates, the new record will come along swiftly and smoothly.

Inside Charmer
15-05-2004, 18:11
Come on now, guys!
"On Fire" was a killer...don't forget that it was their first with a new frontman and bass player! Song wise the material leaves nothing to wish for, the only flaw to my ears is the overpolished, too much of a production.
If the next record contains even better tracks, we'll be talking about top notch quality...let's just wait.

Snail mail always works, so here is some more news on THE band.
Everything seems to be in place for the new recording. Drummer Witt feels ready for it, hehe! If you wished for some more rubbings in "On Fire", be prepared because the new one will surely kick serious arse productionwise.I think the new spinner will anatgonize Ad Astra! Cross fingers mates!
Btw, Ludde has toured with Arch Enemy as a drum technician, besides taking care after his little family. In the spare time he did some killer drumming with Halmastadian band King Size, a cover band mostly for the rocking blues, for the likes of ZZ Top, Freddy King and Allman Brothers.
OK, soon there will be more to say...I am in full contact with Amott, so...

SPIRITUAL BEGGARS frontman Janne "JB" Christoffersson has posted the following studio update on the band's official web site:
"JB here, back in the [Slaughterhouse] studio in Halmstad doing vox for the new album. [Guitarist] Mike [Amott] is constantly on my case for singing out of key, ha-ha! So far we've done 2 songs: 'No One Heard' (with lyrics by yours truly… how about that?) and a crushingly heavy piece called 'Born to Die'. We're having a laugh and things are turning out pretty powerful I think. Hope you people out there are gonna enjoy it! Tomorrow we're gonna tackle some faster stuff which will be interesting!?! Well, anyway, stay heavy and all that!"
SPIRITUAL BEGGARS' recording lineup for the new album consists of the following: JB, Amott (guitar, ARCH ENEMY), Sharlee D'Angelo (bass, ARCH ENEMY), Per Wiberg (keyboards) and Ludwig Witt (drums).

There's a japanese deal, but still no european label signing...
The management is taking care of Spiritual Beggars's business.

In a view metal-magazines the new Album was scheduled for the end of 2004. But there hasn't been any activities neither on spiritualbeggars.com nor here in the forum, so a forecoming relaease doesn't seem to be very likely. Is there anyone who has any information on the latest developments? (Recorddeal, new cd ...)

The most accurate prediciton for the release date of the upcoming Spiritual Beggars record would be spring 2005.
There should be a DVD before that.

Sweden's SPIRITUAL BEGGARS have set "Demons" as the title of their new album, due in Japan on February 23, 2005 via Toy's Factory Records. The first Japanese pressing will come with a bonus disc of live material recorded last year in Tokyo. No release date has yet been announced for the U.S. and Europe.
In other news, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS have been working with Paul Smith in London, U.K. on the editing of the group's DVD. "I must say that the rough cut looks fucking awesome!" the band's guitarist Michael Amott writes on the group's web site. "The 5.1 surround mixes (and the regular stereo mix) by Andy Sneap, sound really, really killer too! This DVD is going to ROCK your TV! Finally, fans of the BEGGARS will be able pick up a quality DVD release…it’s exciting. Also, our friend Mikael Eriksson compiled our DV cam footage from the road in 2003 and made a neat 25-minute film/montage feature that shows us jamming in the BBC studio in London, Ludwig getting tattooed in Osaka, Japan…ogling the babes on the set of the video shoot of 'Killing Time' …and plenty of other stupid stuff in between! Also, interviews with JB and myself will be on there — cryptic ramblings of possibly quite mad men! The title of the DVD is 'Live Fire!' No release date as of yet…we'll keep you posted!"

Well, I can say that Inside Out is a great choice.
A growing label that has some of the best bands, especially progressive ones.
Inside Out provides the best artwork and makes the cd attractive and worth bying...

Inside Out it is then! A surprise in deed...but my guess is that the label is browned up with cheesy prog bands and needs the real shit.
Probable release date is end of June, DVD is due for September.
Touring will follow in fall.
Skal,
don't like the idea... whatever.

Wouldn't say so...
In my opinion, Inside Out has some much greater bands and mucisians than SB with no intention to lesser their value.
Also, the quality of the releases of Inside Out is always high, especially for limited editions and DVDs.
Which label would better for SB?Nuclear Blast, Century Media etc?I don't think so...
IMO it's bad idea for the promotion part, utterly different vibe and attitude from the I.Out standards.
(plus I think it's total crap label =p)

Everybody's entitled to have his opinion.
The band chose InsideOut because they made the best proposal and made the impression to be very committed to what they do.
Still, IO seems to be trying to expand its choices and repertoire.

As the magical date of June, 20th draws near, news is flowing: the special european edition of "Demons" (which is the normal japanese) will feature a different cover, the one depicting something like a demonic Khali goddess, and the one we tend to like more!!!
Shows in Japan supporting Dio went off really great and the first european gig of the band in London is highly anticipated. Mike's talking about a 15 track setlist...not bad I think. Also the new merchandise, aka tees, looks killer to me!
