Οχι, οτι δεν ειναι αρκετα χαρακτηριστικο για την κατευθυνση που εχουν επιλεξει, αλλα μην το κρινεις μονο απο αυτο το τραγουδι. Οταν το ακουσεις ολοκληρωμενο και ισως πανω απο 1-2 φορες, μαλλον θα σου αρεσει. Τουλαχιστον αυτο εγινε με μενα. Απο τους λεγομενους "grower" δισκους και ηδη υποψηφιο για album του 2005. Ο Kensel τα σπαει, και κλεβει την παρασταση. Ο Albini εκανε αυτο ακριβως που επρεπε, δηλαδη αφησε να γραφτει σχεδον live, ωμο, χωρις ιδιατερες παρεμβασεις.

Ετοιμαζουμε ενα παραλληλο review High on Fire/OM που ισως γινει meta-sleep tribute, θα το ποσταρω οταν ειναι ετοιμο.

Το ζητούμενο δεν ήταν το sludge αλλά κάτι αργό, βαρύ και groovy. Όχι τα thrashoσημεία.

Και το 2ο (Surrounded by Thieves, 2002 Relapse) προς πιο Venom-Motorhead ήχο κινείται, όπως και το νέο και μακριά σχετικά από το "stoner" του 1ου*. Στο SbT διίστανται οι απόψεις περί παραγωγής του, καθώς είναι πολύ "βρώμικη". Άλλοι λένε ότι το "έθαψε" ο Billy Anderson, άλλοι ότι αυτή είναι η παραγωγή που ταιριάζει στους HoF. Εγώ προτιμώ το live feeling του νέου που έγραψε ο Albini.

* 3 από τα τραγούδια του The Art of... είχαν κυκλοφορήσει σαν ημι-επίσημο promo από την 12th Records, οπότε τυπικά αυτό είναι το 1ο. Αν και υπάρχει μια διαμάχη μεταξύ της εταιρείας και της μπάντας.

Αμεση απάντηση: στα devilusion, cometh down hessian, silver back για παράδειγμα

Πιο εμπεριστατωμένη: όταν κάποιος χρησιμοποιεί τον συγκεκριμένο παραλληλισμό για τον συγκεκριμένο δίσκο, έχει στο μυαλό του προφανώς και το παρελθόν της μπάντας και την αλλαγή κατεύθυνσης που έχει παρουσιάσει. Οπότε η χρήση των ονομάτων Motorhead/Venom ή και Slayer που έχω διαβάσει, δεν σημαίνει ότι υπάρχει αντιγραφή των συγκεκριμένων συγκροτημάτων, ούτε ότι παίζουν τα ίδια πράγματα... αλλά μάλλον μια στροφή του ήχου από το doom με stoner feeling του Art of Self Defence, προς πιο old school metal ήχο. Καλά που δεν έγραψα και για Celtic Frost δηλαδή :D

Relapse Records recording artists High on Fire have completed work on the first music video from their brand new album, Blessed Black Wings.

The video, for Blessed Black Wings` roll-out track, "Devilution," was filmed on location in the hills of San Francisco, CA with director Gary Smithson (Tomahawk, Goatwhore) and features High on Fire (drummer Des Kensel, guitarist/vocalist Matt Pike, and bassist Joe Preston (ex Melvins)) performing as an evolving storyline unfolds. High on Fire`s "Devilution" video is expected to make its world premiere imminently.
