Paratheto aytousio opos to phra:
"The rumors have been flying, web sites and message boards have been burning up and in the meantime, we found ourselves trying to cope with a most un-Metallica-like situation; the prospect of canceling a tour.
We're really sorry we've kept you hanging over the last few days. Here's the real deal - we've been going non-stop for the last 18 months with recording 'St. Anger', press, touring, and all the stuff that goes with that, and honestly, we're fried. To top it off, Lars has a rotator cuff injury that dates back to the 'Black' album touring days and it's flared up again in the last couple of weeks. So unfortunately we will have to miss out on touring in South America. Big time apologies go out to our friends in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and all of you who were planning to travel there.
We know we've been unusually quiet, but before we announced anything, we wanted to make sure that we would 100% be able to keep our commitment to our Japanese friends. We are really psyched that with the extra rest and treatment that Lars and everyone else will get over the next few weeks, we will now be able to head over to Japan as scheduled.
Thanks for all your concerns and well wishes while we sorted this all out. We'll be back on the road soon. "

METALLICA's "Frantic" was honored with the "Music Video" award at the eighth annual Prism Awards, presented for accurate portrayals of drug, alcohol and tobacco use within entertainment programming.
The awards were presented Thursday night (April 29) at the Hollywood Palladium by the Entertainment Industries Council Inc. in partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse/National Institutes of Health.
METALLICA shared the "Music Video" award with Johnny Cash's "Hurt", a cover of the NINE INCH NAILS ballad that appeared on Cash's 2002 release, "American Recordings IV: The Man Comes Around".

Sources close to METALLICA have told Launch that the band will not play any U.S. shows this summer, despite speculation that the group would either headline Ozzfest or mount its own stadium tour. While METALLICA is playing three concerts in South Africa later this month and has a string of European festival appearances lined up for June, its schedule has been empty for the rest of the summer, leading to rumors of some sort of U.S. jaunt. However, the sources say that the band will enter the studio in July with producer Rick Rubin to begin recording its ninth studio album.
LARS ULRICH Wants DAVE MUSTAINE To Induct METALLICA Into ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME - Mar. 14, 2006
Billboard.com is reporting that METALLICA members were asked at the 21st annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction dinner (held Monday night at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York) whom they'd like to induct METALLICA when the group is inducted into the Rock Hall down the road. "[SABBATH drummer] Bill Ward said they would play if we get inducted," guitarist James Hetfield said, before drummer Lars Ulrich interjected, "Dave Mustaine," the MEGADETH frontman who was famously booted from the pre-fame METALLICA in the early 1980s.
METALLICA are currently working on a new studio album while gearing up for a run of South African shows this month and summer European festivals. "We've been working on the new record for the last three months," Ulrich told Billboard.com. "It's been the best experience we've had writing in as long as we can remember. We've been on such a great roll [that there are] no therapists needed," he added, alluding to the "coach" who was brought in to help band members make it through the recording of 2003's "St. Anger".
"It's been the best experience we've had writing in as long as we can remember.

The METALLICA drummer — who headlines the Donington site tonight (June 10) — had to miss the same date in 2004 after being hospitalized with a mysterious "medical emergency."
He was replaced by Joey Jordison of SLIPKNOT and SLAYER's Dave Lombardo.
Now, talking to NME.COM before tonight's performance, he has revealed the terrible truth! Ulrich said: "Somebody asked me if it was true that my wife caught me with two prostitutes and an eight-ball (of cocaine). But that's actually not what happened.
"What happened was I caught my wife with two prostitutes and an eight-ball. And she wouldn't fucking let me join them! I got all hot and bothered and I didn't make it."
In the latest issue of the METALLICA Club (the group's official fan club) members-only magazine "So What!", the following information was released:
"We can confirm that there will be, at some point, a DVD of all the promotional videos METALLICA have made. Word is it will emerge before the end of 2006, but given the nature of these things, let's just say that as details become available, we will let you know via the web."
As previously reported, Spanish METALLICA fan site CyberMETALLICA has uploaded several new photos taken during METALLICA's songwriting sessions for their upcoming album, tentatively due next summer/fall. Check them out at this location.
METALLICA's follow-up to 2003's "St. Anger" is being produced by Rick Rubin, who has previously worked with AUDIOSLAVE, SLAYER, SLIPKNOT, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS.
In a recent interview with Revolver magazine, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich had the following to say regarding the band's decision to move away from using Bob Rock, who has produced every METALLICA album since 1991's "Metallica": In 1990, when we started using Bob, it was because Bob made all the best rock records that were going on at that time — M

Lars Ulrich suggests Metallica could follow Radiohead
Lars Ulrich, the combustible drummer of heavy-metal band Metallica and long-time critic of file sharing, has apparently changed some of his views towards the Internet and digital music.
In an interview with Rolling Stone last week, Ulrich said he and his bandmates have only one more album to make under contract to Warner Music Group.
What are their plans for the future?
"We want to be as free (as) players as possible," Ulrich told Rolling Stone during the band's Northern California appearance for Record Store Day. "We've been observing Radiohead and Trent Reznor and in 27 years or however long it takes for the next record, we'll be looking forward to everything in terms of possibilities with the Internet."
No, he's not endorsing peer-to-peer sites, but there's no mistaking what Ulrich meant. The group is considering whether to follow the lead of Radiohead and Reznor, leader of the band Nine Inch Nails. Those acts sent shock waves throughout the music industry over the past six months by distributing albums over the Web without the aid of a record company. They also offered digital versions of the albums for free.
Ulrich is the guy who showed up at the headquarters of file-sharing site Napster in May 2000 clutching the names of more than 300,000 people the band accused of illegally downloading its music. He demanded Napster stop them.
Ulrich and the band became symbols of the music industry's antipiracy efforts. His statements underscore just how much the music industry has begun to accept that digital music (increasingly made available for free) is now an integral part of the business.
Asked by Rolling Stone whether his stance has changed in the past eight years Ulrich responded: "We have FLACs and MP3s for sale. It was never about downloading per se. We have the Vault where you can download shows from twenty years ago for free, full-on and it's been there for years...
"Back in the day there was a much bigger question about on whose terms?" Ulrich continued. "We said, 'Wait a minute, it should be about the artist.' Then all hell broke loose and we sat on the sidelines for a while."
