Yup, απ' ό,τι πήρε το αυτί μου βραβεύτηκε indeed.
Τον Cat Stevens (ή Yusuf Islam ή Steven Georgiou...) αξίζει να τον ψάξει κανείς, ξεκινώντας μάλλον από το Tea For the Tillerman που θεωρείται το καλύτερό του album. ["Father and Son"... τα σπάει] Βγήκε την ίδια χρονιά με το "Mona Bone Jakon" (το MBJ κυκλοφόρησε νωρίτερα) που ουσιαστικά αποτελεί την αφετηρία των αναζητήσεών του. Εξίσου προσωπικό, πολύ λιτό, πολύ άμεσο. Μετά έχουμε το "Teaser and the Firecat" που περιλαμβάνει και το κλασικό "Moonshadow"... Με την ταμπέλα "ανεπιφύλακτα" αυτά τα τρία.
Ο πατέρας μου θα ξέρει περισσότερα για τα επόμενα albums. Αν ενδιαφέρεσαι μπορώ να ρωτήσω. Ο τύπος λίγα χρόνια αργότερα ασπάστηκε το Ισλάμ και στα τέλη της δεκαετίας του 70 ανακοίνωσε ότι αποσύρεται. Κάποια στιγμή επανήλθε σε εντελώς άλλη φάση, αλλά δε θυμάμαι περισσότερα οπότε καλύτερα να μην πω μαλακία. Απώλεια.

Yusuf Islam (Bio) will be in Rome, Italy, on Wednesday where he will be presented with the Man For Peace 2004 award during the World Summit Of Nobel Peace Laureates. In a formal announcement today, the Committee of Nobel Peace Laureates said: "Yusuf Islam was one of the most important international musicians of the 70's and author of such memorable songs as Father & Son (Album) and Peace Train (Song). [He has worked to] to alleviate the suffering of thousands of children and their parents in countries of war and agony like Kosovo, Bosnia, Albania, Montenegro and Iraq through Small Kindness, a humanitarian organization established by Yusuf Islam, [and has] donated royalties to charity projects like the September 11 [Fund], orphans and the homeless in underdeveloped countries and for AIDS therapy in South Africa. [He has dedicated himself] to promoting peace, reconciling people and the condemnation of terrorism." The Man For Peace award is presented annually to an "artist of international reputation, who was able to contribute to initiatives in favour of peace, human rights and solidarity."
