Hail,
although their record has been lurking some time now in my dusty collection, it's just a few days that I actually came to appreciate The Quill's latest effort, "Hooray! It's A Death Trip"! I really don't know why it took me so long to get down to it!Probably because the first time I listened to it I was in my car stuck in the traffic jam and browned up with my civil athenian shitlife...
But the album is a hella footstomping, nose bleeding hard rocker with sharp teeth and horny intentions.Definitely better than the already very dynamic "Voodoo Caravan", this one shows depth and integrity.Heavy laden riffing, crazed out soloing and moist vocals.
I personally suggest it to every Beghead...and not just because Roger nails his bass in it!Having followed the band from the very start and being a diehard, ardent fan of their debut, I think The Quill have achieved a level where anything goes, so go that far and expect big things from those Swedes.
If you already bought it, crank it up and then speak your mind.
If you think about it, stop and act...go for it man!
Skal,

Great album! The fact that it reminds me a lot of Soundgarden, Audioslave, Chris Cornell especially because of the vocals does noooo harm at all!Roger, bring The Quill in Greece NOW.
I'm spinning round..!!

The album is awesome as it grows in me with time, however the most blatant influence is the mighty Led Zeppelin!!! Audioslave, Soundgarden and solo Cornell come again. What surprises me is that this album is much better than the previous one, but one can tell only after having listened the new one...if you know what I mean!

The mighty The Quill will embark on a european tour with Monster Magnet and Gluecifer early January. Let's pray to the gods of rock'n'roll that they will hit Athens too...

Oh My Goodness I can't believe we're gonna watch such a gig here in Greece! But let's not be so sure...We've heard a lot of good anouncements so far...
I absoluteley adore The Quill.I almost never check the SB forum and as a result I had started a topic about Hooray on the album review section.I still believe it's a great album and maybe their best so far.
I am a fan of Chris Cornell both in Soundgarden and Audioslave so the fact that they sound a little close to these groups is an advantage for me.
If The Quill and Monster Magnet come in Greece it's gonna be a Fuckin' Meltdown. Can't wait...

?ra Vare Pyroskhs! The best adjective for heavy rock has been used by others in the past. So be it. What we cannot speak of, we must pass over in silence. Oh, in case you aren't aware of my case, i don't know waht i'm doing, why i'm doing it and why i'm always late no matter what i do. Va? *Smooch*

I definitely will see The (mighty) Quilt on their tour with Monster Magnet here in Middle Earth (... I mean in the heart of Europe) but I probably have to cancel my sisters birthday party for that ;-)))

So I guess you'll see them on tour in Athens as well ...

:) Saw The Quill supporting Monster Magnet on Saturday! Allthough they had only 30 minutes on stage they put up a terrific performance. Very heavy and very solid! I guess you'll love it!

 That's too bad! I just checked their homepage www.welcome.to/thequill (http://www.welcome.to/thequill) and their final gig is on April 12th in London. They should go to Athens as well!!! Some things I'll never understand. :?

Hey, can you inform us about the Monster Magnet playlist?

Unfortunately I can't tell you much. They opened with "Bummer" and played lots of - cool - new songs. Of course the set included an extended version of "Space Lord". Playing time was around 2 hrs. Enjoy the show!

The Quill are another of my fave bands, I have 3 of their 4 albums. The Only one I don't have is Silver Haze.

I still think the first album is the best as I love the sound of the Hammond Organ.

Couldn't agree more with you, mate!
Still I think their latest effort to date is also killer.
