Ποιό modem έχεις και τι είδους γραμμή (PSTN ή ISDN);

Όσο για το Nero, αν κατεβάσεις καινούργια έκδοση δε νομίζω να έχεις πρόβλημα (εγώ χρησιμοποιώ Nero σε WinXP Pro English εδώ και 1 1/2 χρόνο).

Καλά θα κάνεις να κατεβάσεις και το πρώτο service patch των XP, διαφορετικά είναι το πιο ευάλωτο σύστημα σε θέματα ασφαλείας.

Τα WinXP Pro δεν είναι συμβατά με παλιούς drivers, πρέπει να έχεις ειδική έκδοση των drivers για winXp.

Linux για home-use είναι παντελώς άχρηστο. Το είχα στον υπολογιστή μου 3-4 χρόνια για επαγγελματικούς σκοπούς και προσπάθησα μανιωδώς να το κάνω το κύριο λειτουργικό που να χρησιμοποιώ (να γράφω doc αρχεία εκεί, calendar, να σερφάρω απ'το linux, κ.λ.π.). Αλλά μάταια. Τα πάντα στα Windows τα έκανα σαφώς γρηγορότερα (και το OpenOffice σαφώς ακόμα δε φτάνει το MS Office).
