Station Eleven was formed back in the fall of 2002. The first line up of the band consisted of Panayotis Trikalitis (vocals),Elias Trikalitis (drums) ,Argyris Vasiliou (bass) and Panayotis Diamantopoulos (guitars). The music was a mix of prog power/death and American Thrash Metal. In the spring of 2003 the band decided to change its musical direction to something more nu metal and hardcore while maintaining the same old influences. After the change took place Harris Tsoukalas joined S11 as the second guitarist of the band and they performed live for the first time before the Athenian audience, at the Rodeo club (march 2003) which was a great success. Not long after that Diamantopoulos left the band and was replaced by Lefteris Perdikouris. In November 2003 Station Eleven released their first promo CD that was spread to labels, magazines and radio stations worldwide and its available for free download, thought their website,to all of you.In April of 2004 Harris (Guitars) Left The band due to personal reasons.

Well here we are again and this time it’s Station Eleven’s time. The guys from Salamina are very talented because they have a very nice way to give their attitude in hardcore music. They don’t use the classic method playing snippy trendy riffs like Korn and Limp Bizkit do but instead they put much more staff in their music. Then what is it? Is it Slipknot? Is it System of a Down? Well yes and… no!!! It is Station Eleven! The production is quite good although it needs some improvement for the music style they are playing. Well that’s it!

Alright….what do we have here…..A 2 track CD, nice artwork, and a typed letter for me…Not bad at all. Looks professional enough. Only one comment about these guys, and some others who have sent me CD in the past. When addressing something to me, don't start with ''Dear'' (or any other language equivalent).I'm not your 99 year old grandma. OK? Please. Thank you very much. Now let's get on with the review.
As I read in the info kindly supplied by the band, these boys are from Greece, and that made me feel kinda bad in the beginning, because I'd hate to give a bad review to a band from my second(so to speak) homeland. Fortunately, this need never arose. I won't have to lie to you about this band, because these guys are really good. First of all, they know how to do a proper job. Their work looks and sounds professional. They know how to write music, how to play it, and how to be original. Reading the info, they say their music is ''nu-metal/hardcore mixed with the old metal sound''. I guess that's what it is then. I mean they know better what kind of music they play don't they? No problems there. I really liked their music, and I'm looking forward in receiving another CD from these guys, this time a promo from a metal label though. And to think that I don't even like nu-metal. Still, while treading on grounds well known, they do manage to sound original. They reminded me a lot of Metallica (especially the awesome vocals), from the old stuff and ''St. Anger''. But no, the drums don't sound like frying pans, they're perfectly good. Some interesting bass work too here. All in all, I'm very impressed by their work, it shows skill and potential. Some live shows would be very useful in making their work known, and I do believe they can pull off a live show very nicely. So, I recommend that you visit their website, listen to their songs and keep an eye out for these guys, because you WILL see, you will run into them again.


Judging this CD as a first attempt from a new band, I shamelessly give this MCD a 10/10

STATION ELEVEN: "PROMO 2003" (2003)

Οι Station Eleven μας έρχονται από την Σαλαμίνα και αυτό εδώ το ηχογραφημένο υλικό είναι το πρώτο
τους. Ως μπάντα έχουν ιδρυθεί το 2002 και η έδρα τους είναι η πανέμορφη Σαλαμίνα. Τι έχουμε εδώ
όμως; Λοιπόν το πρώτο τους εγχείρημα περιέχει 2 συνθέσεις, οι οποίες κινούνται σε μονοπάτια
περίεργα…..λέω περίεργα εννοώντας τι; Στις δύο αυτές συνθέσεις υπάρχει και μάλιστα διάχυτη, η
επιρροή από την μουσική των μεγάλων System Of A Down, πράγμα το οποίο δημιουργεί άμεσα
καχυποψία ακούγοντας ή διαβάζοντας το. Όχι κύριοι δεν έχουμε να κάνουμε με δύο, τρία πιτσιρίκια
που άκουσαν το "Toxicity" και κάνανε μπάντα. Ναι μεν υπάρχουν επιρροές από τους System Of A
Down σε βαθμό ταύτισης, παρατηρούνται όμως και πολλές επιρροές από τους Metallica αλλά και τους
Pantera, χωρίς όμως το υλικό να διακατέχεται από έλλειψη έμπνευσης ή ακόμα και να αποτελεί ένα
κοπιαρισμένο και αντιγραμμένο, αποτέλεσμα. Καταρχάς να σας πω ότι έχουμε να κάνουμε με μία πολύ
δυνατή ομάδα που πραγματικά έχει ταλέντο στην σύνθεση, προσοχή όχι εμπειρία, αλλά ταλέντο και
αυτό φαίνεται, γεγονός και credit συνάμα που αν χρησιμοποιήσουν σωστά….. πραγματικά θα μας
κάνουν να παραμιλάμε για πολλά χρόνια. Επίσης έχουμε να κάνουμε με παίχτες άρτιους, που ξέρουν
και που πατάνε αλλά και το που βρίσκονται, ενώ ο τραγουδιστής έχει μία φωνή και μία χροιά, που σε
άλλη περίπτωση θα έκανε τον James Hetfield μεγάλο κορόιδο και τον Mr. Anselmo (Pantera), να
αναρωτιέται αν είναι όντως ο βασιλιάς του heavy metal ή όχι. Ξεκινάω και τελειώνω λοιπόν με την ίδια
χαρά που ξεκίνησα να γράφω μιας και παράλληλα ακούω το demo τους και πραγματικά αν και το έχω
ακούσει πάνω από 18 φορές δεν έχω βαρεθεί σε καμία περίπτωση και πως άλλωστε; Από την μία όσα
προανέφερα, από την άλλη η εκπληκτική για demo παραγωγή και από την άλλη το ότι ακούω
πραγματικά hits. Συγχαρητήρια από βάθος καρδίας και καλή σταδιοδρομία. Απλά όταν φτάσετε μην
μας ξεχάσετε……Φιλούρες αλάνια, ελπίζω να τα πούμε κάποια στιγμή και από κοντά.(σ.σ. Φανταστείτε
να ήταν και τίποτα φίλοι μου και να ήμουν και προκατειλημμένος θετικά. Όχι παίδες αλήθεια είναι
φοβεροί. ΜΠΡΑΒΟ!!!)

Promo 2003

The greek band sent us this promo with two songs to present its work. So, we have a decent effort from the band, coming from Salamina as I saw in the adress, that plays violent hard core and nu-metal. I liked also the great clean vocals of the second track that show a lot of personality. The production is also clear and brings out all the good elements of the band. Great songs guys! Keep playing and you sould definately send whatever you do in the future!

Βασικά ο βαθμός μια χαρά είναι για τον απλό λόγο ότι από 9 και πάνω σπάνια μπαίνει και το demo του μήνα είναι από 8-9. So, την επόμενη φορά που θα είναι κάτι πιο ολοκληρωμένο, πάω στοίχημα ότι θα είναι καλύτερος ο βαθμός.

7,7/10 Πρώτη δουλειά από τους Station Eleven είναι το PROMO CD που έφτασε στα χέρια μας και ονομάζεται Promo 2003. Το cd περιέχει δύο κομμάτια συνολικής διάρκειας 6:45 λεπτά. Το μουσικό ύφος του group κινείται μεταξύ "nu-metal και hardcore mixed with the old metal sound" όπως αναφέρει και η μπάντα στο σημείωμα της και έχει απόλυτο δίκιο. Η σύνθεση των κομματιών είναι πολύ καλή, με αρκετές εναλλαγές και ποικιλία. Η δε εκτέλεσή τους είναι στο ίδιο υψηλό επίπεδο. Παθιασμένα και "κάφρικα" φωνητικά εναλλάσσονται με μελωδικά σημεία και οι κιθάρες σε όργιο από riff. Ο ντράμερ είναι μηχανάκι και γενικά φαίνεται ότι το group είναι καλά δεμένο. Τα παιδιά γουστάρουν και αυτό φαίνεται. Η παραγωγή αν και δεν είναι άσχημη, ακούγεται λίγο μουντή και υστερεί σε δύναμη που απαιτεί το είδος, αλλά αυτό σίγουρα δεν μειώνει την ποιότητα των κομματιών. Η κυκλοφορία αυτή προορίζετε κυρίως για περιοδικά, εταιρίες κτλ. αλλά όποιος θέλει μπορεί να το αποκτήσει κατεβάζοντας το από το site του group (με όλο το Artwork, lyrics κτλ.) αλλά και να παραγγείλει μία κόπια, αν θέλει, με email.

The demo ended before it actually started in my ears since the two songs last roughly bellow seven minutes. But still I manage to have an opinion about this band and I have to say that I am impressed. Station Eleven started (according what the say in their bio) as a death / prog band but they turn out to become an N.U. / Hardcore act.

First of all while listening I had the feeling of an “international wind” flowing above the compositions. True, both songs are worked in a professional way and actually both of them could fit in an album of an already known act. S11 manages easily to combine melody with aggressiveness especially in the field of vocals, where exceptional works is been done.

Also the production is very good considering this is their band’s first attempt to express their identity in the studio. As far as I can tell Station Eleven have a bright future ahead of them. They must only keep working, working, working… never stay satisfy with what they might achieve.

Station Eleven is a band that was formed back in the fall of 2002. They have gone through some internal strife and revised their line up quite a bit through the years. 2004 finds them with Panayotis Trikalitis (vocals),Elias Trikalitis (drums) ,Argyris Vasiliou (bass) , Harris Tsoukalas (guitars) and Lefteris Perdikouris (guitars) at the helm.
Their music can best be described as a potent mix between Hardcore thrashy metal, with tinges of nu and old school in their sound. You get AWESOME start-stop dynamics, that if produced properly would be powerful enough to demolish a building, but you also have Panos singing a lot more melodically at times, without sounding whiny!!! That’s a fucking novelty dude. Well done. The production is very good for a promo, but still they need a lot more VOLUME, to really become punishing and I think that Panos really needs to let him self free. He seems to be holding back a bit. I trust that he can do it. There are two songs on the very presentable CD-R, namely “suffering” and “pain”. Both are “the bussiness”. “Suffering” is quite short but very tense, and really sets the pace. “Pain” is a lot more intriguing and a lot more interesting, still crunchy, but at the same time, more moody. Although, the new sound is not my cup of tea, mainly because of the weak song writing of most of the bands in the given genre, I cannot overlook a band like S11. They simply kick some serious ass. Honestly gimme this shit, over KORN and their ilk anyday. Given the right promotion, this band could and should become really big. And it’s surprising that they ‘re Greek, but don’t let that thing put you off. They ‘ll tear your heads off. Head over to their official website @ www.stationeleven.com (http://www.stationeleven.com) and get the songs as they ‘re avail for free. Surely a band worth checking out and keep their name in your mind. I ‘m quite sure you ‘ll hear it again very soon. The best thing that has come out of Greece in a long time.

Station Eleven is band that came to life back in 2002. After suffering many line up changes (as most underground bands) they changed their musical directions from progressive power/death into a more nu-metal/hardcore way. "Promo 2003" (released last November) is the band's first demo that includes two tracks: "Suffering" and "Pain", recorded at Esoteron Studio in Athens. About the first track... I really wish it lasted more! This track is a masterpiece that shows that this band can get the step further from the underground! Sounds like System Of A Down, with wonderful vocals and nice heavy riffs! The second track, Pain is more agressive and very powerful that brought in my mind some Slipknot rhythms! According to their biographical note, Station Eleven was formed back in fall of 2002 and their initial musical direction was a mix of US-oriented progressive power and death metal, but they decided to change direction in 2003 and became a hardcore, nu-metal group. This is their first release and it was recorded back in November 2003.
Although hardcore (or nu-metal) is not my cup of tea, I have been unexpectedly impressed by this promo. It surpasses the Greek standards on all aspects. In fact I believe that it’s equivalent to many famous hardcore releases worldwide. But lets have a closer look and examine why this can be true. First of all, the work made by these guys, especially on the production that is the first thing I pay attention to a demo cd, is almost professional, taking into account that this is a self-financed cd and that Greece lacks of producers that can understand how a sound, different from bouzouki or Modern Greek pop music, should be treated and recorded. Station Eleven managed to find the appropriate studio and producer and the final outcome is a very good and well-balanced production. If you expect from someone to listen to your music more than once, you should make sure it’s going to be audible and Station Eleven can guarantee for that.

And this is where we come to the crucial point: the compositions. I will start with the bad news. The bad news is that they are depriving from us the opportunity to enjoy more of their music, since the two songs of the promo have a total running time of only 7 minutes. The good news though is that you can listen to two exceptional songs, quite representative of the genre and as I foretold, they can compete with many known ones. Station Eleven seems to possess the secrets of hardcore so well that they have nothing to envy from the leviathans of the genre. Their main characteristics are: amazing guitar work that brings forth heavy and aggressive riffs, driving and infallible rhythm section and awesomely aggressive, or sometimes melodic vocals (especially on "Pain"). Panos, the vocalists, seems to have a bright future ahead, if he decides to continue working on the matter of course. He has the ability to change his voice from melodic to aggressive effortlessly and his voice has the appropriate hardcore/nu-metal tone and "color".

But the good news continues. The band decided to make the promo available to the public through their website (you can find the address above). This is a real present for all hardcore/nu-metal fans, even though I disagree with this move. You must pay my friends to enjoy these songs, because they worth every cent you will give. Hey don’t stone at me, I’m just joking. So don’t you even think about ignoring this band. You will definitely regret it sooner than you think. It is a rare chance to enjoy two great songs free of charge.
