Cathedral - The Serpent's Gold

[Ghoul]

Legendary doom act CATHEDRAL will release a monolithic double CD set on June 21 detailing all of the band's time with Earache, titled 'The Serpent's Gold'. Fresh from his impressive collaboration on the recent Dave Grohl inspired Probot album, Lee Dorrian's post Napalm Death work with long time Cathedral cohort Garry Jennings is fully documented on this collection. Featuring over two and a half hours of material from all stages of the band's Earache years, the album contains 27 tracks including 11 completely unreleased tunes.
Housed in traditional Dave Patchett artwork, 'The Serpent's Gold' showcases classics like 'Midnight Mountain', 'Ebony Tears' and 'Hopkins (Witchfinder General)' on disc one (subtitled 'The Serpent's Treasure') and serves as a welcome reminder of the immense committment Cathedral have made to the doom scene particularly, and heavy music more generally, down the years.
Disc two, itself subtitled 'The Serpent's Chest', features a wealth of material designed to whet the appetite of the Cathedral fanatic. Tracks from the legendary second demo, rare live performances, three completely unheard tunes, radically different versions of established favorites and even a Witchfinder General cover version have all found a home here.
In addition, an exhaustive interview with Dorrian gives detailed insight into the development and sometimes rocky career path of the band, whilst the riff-king himself, Gaz Jennings, provides a commentary for all of the tracks on disc two.
'The Serpent's Gold' is the most comprehensive Cathedral collection you could wish for and because it has been compiled completely with the help and direction of the band, the quality on offer is of the highest possible standard.

Εγώ ξέρω τι συνέβη. Στην πραγματικότητα είναι αδέρφια, όμως: η μητέρα τους το έκανε στα 15 με έναν αμερικανό πεζοναύτη και έμεινε έγκυος. Η οικογένειά της την έστειλε στον αγύριστο γιατί "το εγγόνι μας δεν μπορεί να είναι νόθο, πουτανάκι". Ο αμερικανός πεζοναύτης την παράτησε για ένα άλλο λιμάνι και μια άλλη αγκαλιά. Η μητέρα του Stephen που 2 χρόνια αργότερα θα έφερνε στο γκόσμο τον Pete, γέννησε, έβαλε το παιδί σε ένα καλάθι, το οποίο έφτασε στην Αμερική και προσπαθώντας σκληρά να ξεχάσει όσα είχαν συμβεί και την πλήγωσαν, πήγε στο York για να δουλέψει στα ορυχεία. Μεροδούλι μεροφάι......
Ε τέλος πάντων, επειδή βαριέμαι τώρα, η αλήθεια θα αποκαλυφθεί σε δύο χρόνια και 54 ημέρες. Να το θυμάστε.
