Hails,
I had the chance to listen to the new album by Grand Magus, JB's other band and main priority...thanks to John P. and Lee Dorian!
I won't say my opinion that early, I've only listened to it 5 or 6 times...and it needs more attention.For sure, this one is more deep,flexible and epic/viking.Don't worry, the heaviness and dynamics are still there...and ...I LIKE IT!
Soon more of my bloody opinions...

P.S2:I know I am gonna be pretty lonely on this thread since the album is due for release late October...sniff!But maybe the band itself could join me...?!?!?

I've been listening to "Monument" almost exclusively the past 24 hours or more, I'm beginning to get the overall picture of it. I won't get into details, too early for that.
Fans of Manowar, Bathory and maybe Solstice prepare yerselves for a shocker...it might sound TOO heavy for some ears, but metal's supposed to be HEAVY.
Meanwhile, try to understand the difference between a menhir and a dolmen...

listened to "Monument" a few thousand times since my last post...I am starting to make up my mind. Not that you care, but hey this is my diary in public!
The new record is a lot more versatile than the brilliant debut. Musically there are more atmospheres and more colours in it. The norse feeling is all over the songs. Combined with the deep, meaningful lyrics by JB, mostly dealing with mythology, magical tactics and nature, "Monument" feels very much like a Bathory album, only the riffs are certainly of a bluesy doom nature, the performance is tight as fuck and the vocals soulful and rough. Those of you who are fond of true metal, tyry listening to this spinner to check out you heavymetal-ness!!!

I've intentionally kept away from the thread, since if you don;t have the music you can't tell!It's a matter of days since "Monument" will burst into metal stores. I advise you all to grab it, it RULES!
At this point I truly opine, JB should listen to the new record of Doomsword, if he hasn't already...

I think Monument was lately spotted at Metropolis...at a quite high price.
No that the album is out, I want you all to share your opinion with me. Do you agree that it's fucking brillaint record or is it just me?
I think we should hook up JB with Deathmaster...or maybe get them to play together in Athens?

Well this is my first post, and what better way to start it than on a topic about one of my fave bands.

I have both of their albums and they are quality.

I will be seeing Grand Magus supporting Orange Goblin on the 10 July at Bradford Rios rock club.

The billing also features Orange Goblin ;-) as far as I know Orange Goblin will be headlining the tour; I'd preferred if Grand Magus had the Headlining spot. Anyway I'm really looking forward to seeing them. It's the first time for me!

Witchcraft played very well but Grand Magus kicked serious ass!!! They rule!!! Orange Goblin had a very good set as well, but I prefer Grand Magus' versatility!!! :D

Well I went to see the Orange Goblin, Grand Magus and Witchcraft last saturday....awesome nite.

Witchcraft were amazing, Grand Magus were awesome, and Orange Goblin were good.
