Yes, we have been asked to play the 13th Roadburn festival by our dear friend Walter. It is a four day event this time. April 17th - 20th."

" As for Roadburn 2008, here's what we know so far. The core of 13th Roadburn Festival will be Friday, April 18th and Saturday, April 19th. We're aiming for approximately 12 to 14 bands each day,with sounds ranging from stonerrock to modern psych, and from the heavy 70's to avant garde metal.
We know that it'll be hard to top the 2007 event, but we're convinced that Roadburn 2008 will be very special as well. In fact, we are talking to some bands about playing special sets just for Roadburn 2008.

We will have the opportunity to add two addional dates to the festival, Thursday, April 17th [Roadburn's Pre-heat], and Sunday, April 20th [Roadburn's Afterburner]. We can use 013's main room [the 1750 capacity auditorium], and it's our intention to offer special shows on those days. The shows will be smaller, with only 2 to 4 bands, but everyone will be hand-picked to the same standards as all Roadburn-related shows. We may try to put on shows from bands that won't fit the festival because of their setup requirements. There will be separate tickets available for these additional shows."

On Friday, April 18th, it is our enormous pleasure to announce that Tony McPhee's Groundhogs [w/ Dave Anderson of Hawkwind / Amon Duul II-fame on bass, and Mark Anderson, drums] will be headlining the Green Room. These heavy 70's legends will be performing the material from their seminal albums "Split", "Thank Christ for the Bomb", "Scratch the Surface" and "Hogwash."

We at Roadburn HQ could not be any happier about this. The Groundhogs have long been favorites here and we consider "Split" to be one of our favorite records of the 1970's. After the amazing sets by Blue Cheer and Guru Guru this year, we are very excited about The Groundhogs.

Also on the bill [and not to be overlooked!] for Friday night are Baby Woodrose Gentleman's Pistols, and Danava. Baby Woodrose offer up garage-psych with decidedly pop twist and their latest album, "Chasing Rainbows" showcases a more inwardly rocking heavy psych than their previous two releases.
Gentleman's Pistols are on Lee Dorrian's Rise Above label [instant cred!] and they deliver a truly compelling brand of heavy rock that sounds like an amalgamation of Free and Leafhound.

Danava's sound harkens back to the heyday of mystical prog-rock, the early '70's. However, unlike the unfortunate overlong 30 minute epics crammed with odd chopping time changes, and pompous concertos for group and orchestra, Danava favors a more direct and immediate approach on their forthcoming album, "Unounu", pairing classic rock riffs with hallucinatory fervor and delivering them with an odd pop structure.

Confirmed for Saturday night are one of Roadburn's all time favorite bands, The Heads! No more need be said about them except that if you have not seen them yet, shame on you. Also on tap are some great new bands like Sweden's Kongh. Their debut record "Counting Heartbeats" has been [deservedly] getting rave reviews and their take on sludge / doom is nothing short of majestic.

There's sure to be a krautrock vibe on Saturday with the presence of veterans Electric Orange and talented newcomers My Sleeping Karma.

Last but definitely not least, France's excellent and epic Year of No light are also confirmed for the evening of April 19th.

We have also received confirmation of appearances from Blood of the Sun [Texas], Mos Generator [Washington state] and La Ira de Dios [Peru]. These bands will be finalizing their European tours in the next few months, and if it all works out, they will be coming to Roadburn.
We really look forward to having the organ-driven monster boogie sounds of Blood of The Sun, the Pink Floyd meets Sabbath rock of Mos Generator and super atmospheric space / psych of La Ira De Dios.

Aslo scheduled to appear on the Saturday Roadburn date are Swedish prog metal stalwarts Cult of Luna, playing a one-off show at Roadburn's main stage.


Formed in 2003 as a solo project for Aidan Baker to explore his interest in heavier, noisier, more aggressive music, Nadja has since been augemented by bassist Leah Buckareff -in order to make the project more than just a studio endeavour, and allow Nadja [currently based in Toronto, Canada] to perform live. Both Baker and Buckareff are adept at creating some of the mesmerizing drone, ambient doom metal, along the lines of Jesu, Godflesh, Sunn 0))) & Skullflower.

Roadburn is pleased to report that hypersonic grindcore freaks CEPHALIC CARNAGE have been confirmed to play the Roadburn Festival on Saturday April 19, 2008 at the 013 Club in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
The band won't perform their unusual and uncompromising marijuana-induced grind. Instead, CEPHALIC CARNAGE is going to drone out at Roadburn 2008, beckoning the festival attendees to enter the Halls of Amenti.

Indeed, CEPHALIC CARNAGE is going to play the entirety of "Halls of Amenti", their ultra doom-influenced record from 2002, as part of an entire set of drone and doom. The band will be doing this special set only at Roadburn during their forthcoming European tour, and performing "Halls of Amenti" live for only the second time ever.

Here is the ticket information for Roadburn 2008. It took us some time to figure out the most convenient ticket implementation for next year's festival, and we hope that came up with a plan that satisfies everyone.

You will notice some new options for the 2008 event, with separate tickets available for the Pre Heat on Thursday, April 17th, 2008, the special day-long event with David Tibet on Sunday, April 20, 2008, and Roadburn's Afterburner with The Glasspack on the Sunday Roadburn date as well.

The reasons for the separate tickets are not financially motivated, in fact, Roadburn doesn't earn any money from the festival and every ticket needs to sell for the event to break even. Instead, we think the flexible ticketing gives you the option to create your own festival, and only pay for the events you want to see.

Tickets for the 13th Roadburn Festival, April 18 - 19, 2008 are ? 58 + ? 4.15 service costs [unfortunately these service costs are mandatory in The Netherlands, and we can't change it].
There will be no single day tickets available for the Friday and Saturday Roadburn dates as we noticed that most people want to enjoy the whole Roadburn Festival experience instead of just going on either Friday or Saturday. Tickets will be a little bit more expensive than last year [5 euro] due to increased costs associated with maintaining the quality of the Roadburn Festival.

Roadburn's Pre Heat costs ? 17,50 + ? 3.45 service costs

David Tibet's long-day event will cost ? 32,50 + ? 3.45 service costs.

Roadburn's afterburner will cost ? 17,50 + ? 3.45 service costs

στο προηγούμενο μείναμε σε ένα ξενοδοχείο "σύνορα", ας πούμε, Oosterhout-πωσκαταγράφεται κιε Tilburg που ταν γαμάτο κιε φτηνό σχετικά αλλά χωρίς τουτού δε γινόταν δουλειά.

εμείς πέρυσι μείναμε σε ένα χωριουδάκι 5 χλμ. από το Tilburg(Hilvarenbeek) σε ένα γαμάτο και φτηνό ξενοδοχιάκι, όμως αντιμετωπίζαμε πρόβλημα στον γυρισμό τα βραδιά επειδή βρίσκαμε δύσκολα ταξί, αλλά εκεί ήταν γαμάτα και ήρεμα. Φέτος βέβαια, έχουν κλείσει σχεδόν όλα τα δωμάτια του για την επίμαχη ημερομηνία και ό,τι έχει μείνει είναι αρκετά ακριβό για να το παλέψουμε. Γι' αυτό θα παίξει κάμπινγκ αναγκαστικά φέτος. Το οποίο δε θα είναι και άσχημο αν πετύχουμε καλό καιρό.

Apparently the combi tickets are sold out at the moment -we only sold 150 of them as we didn't know what was going to happen (we can only sell a limited amount of tickets for the afterburner, and we just didn't know how many people would like to purchase single afterburner tickets). We're very pleased to report that New Orleans metal heavyweights DOWN will headline Roadburn's Pre-Heat on Thursday, April 17.

We would also like to report that, contrary to rumors, the Pre-Heat isn't sold out!!! Tickets are still available!





Starting out life as a Pantera side project, Down have now become a full time band for most of it's members. Down's latest album, called "Over the Under", is a hands down winner, and it clearly benefits from the extra time and attention that the band was able to put into it.
"Over The Under" is southern metal at its very best --combining Down's classic stoned-out hard grooves with a southern rock flair, and this time around, Phil Anselmo also turns up the intensity by adding some smoldering white soul to the mix.

"Om have regretfully had to pull out of the

Current 93 due to he sudden and unexpected

για να πω την αλήθεια το όλο προσπεκτ C93 με OM για rhythm section ήταν απ'την μια τρομερά καυλωτικό, αλλά και χωρίς OM οι current θαρρώ συνεχίζουν να κάνουν τα καλύτερα λάηβ του κόσμου όλου. Όσοι τους είχαν δει στο Δημήτρης Χόρν με καταλαβαίνουν, πιστεύω.
