METALLICA have officially confirmed their appearance at the 45,000-capacity Olympic Stadium in Helsinki, Finland on Friday, May 28, 2004. Support at the show will come from SLIPKNOT and an as-yet-unannounced third band. Tickets will go on sale on Monday, December 12 at 9:00 a.m. via Lippupalvelu (http://www.lippupalvelu.fi).

As previously reported, METALLICA are scheduled to headline the Aerodrome festival in Austria on June 11. In addition, METALLICA will play a massive show in Gothenburg, Sweden as part of their spring 2004 European tour. The gig will take place at the 55,000-capacity Ullevi stadium in late May - most likely May 29. More dates are expected to be announced soon.

GODSMACK have been confirmed as the opening act on METALLICA's upcoming North American tour, according to Billboard.com. The trek will begin March 2 in Phoenix. Other confirmed dates include March 8 in San Francisco and March 28 in Seattle. The first batch of ticket on-sales will begin Saturday (Dec. 20) via Ticketmaster.

METALLICA are touring in support of their latest Elektra album, "St. Anger", which has sold 1.5 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. The latest single from the set, "The Unnamed Feeling", will be released as a seven-track EP Jan. 12 in the U.K.

Metallica returns to Turkey for its third time, once again at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium on July 27. That wraps up the European vacation, with one warm up date in Tucson, and a little US festival called Bonnaroo. Currently the band is still recording the final bits of the album, and will begin tour rehearsals in a couple weeks. Hope to see some of you guys and gals on the rail this summer!

Band arrived in Dallas this afternoon, and had a photo shoot. Then it was off to the tuning room while the crew set up the stage. After about a KILLER hour in the tuning room, they hit the stage for another hour of rehearsal. The boys seem in great spirits, and I sounds like something special planned for tomorrow! Stay tuned!

Lars came out and played drums with Mike Inez, Scott Ian, Jerry Cantrell, and Pearl Aday on the Pinkk Floyd song "Wish You Were Here." Kirk was supposed to play a song as well, but they ran out of time. They are on a strict schedule today!!!

More Tour Dates!


Our annual European vacation goes inside! While we are getting ready to head out in North America, we're also thinking ahead (for once!) and want to give you a taste of what else we have in store for you next year. It's been over five years since we've played in arenas in Europe and we can't wait to visit again, so with that said, we have a ton of shows planned in 2009. Strap in, hang on, and get ready for the nuttiness to begin as we roll them out for you a few at a time over the next ten days or so.

First dates up on the announcement schedule are for our friends in Italy . . . Milan at the Datch Forum on June 22 and in Rome at the Palalottomatica on June 24. Tickets go on sale on the internet on October 18 at midnight and in stores the next morning.

Fan Club pre-sale begins on Thursday, October 16 at 12:01 AM PST and ends on Friday, October 17 at 8:00 AM PST. Go to the Tickets section on the Tour page to access the sale.

This is just the beginning . . . we will see you on the road!
